There are a lot of reports between yesterday and today @feltonbeaver on both the views column on the active listings page, and the traffic reports page.
Based on the number of reports, I'm sure eBay is working on this.
In the meantime, as another poster suggested, the info typically reappears on the views page if you refresh or if you go back to it later. It's not something I'd worry about.
But to answer the question about whether it's possible to watch without viewing, the answer is yes and toysaver demonstrated one of the many ways that can happen above.
