Took a week off from listing. I always just start from scratch, I don't do sell similar. I don't use templates. All the sudden today, when I draft, it does not give me the option to use all the item specifics anymore. However, if I list one of the items, I can add them on the active listing page. What am I doing wrong?

@wastingtime101 this post from @jkramer2 is the one that reported the IS may be shown dynamically based on keywords - hopefully they can give us more details or anyone else that is having this problem can test to see if anything changes depending on their keyword selections.

OK, we have 2 different interpretations of that post @valueaddedresource .

I read it and thought jkramer was talking about how eBay suggests auto-filled IS based on key words in title. Like adding "blue" means eBay suggests filling out color IS with "blue" kind of thing. That's been around for years.

But you're reading it and thinking that based on which key words are in the title means IS fields are appearing/disappearing? At least that's what I think you were saying? I could not replicate that on my end.

@wastingtime101 yes that is how I read it but I could definitely be misinterpreting it.

@jkramer2 could you give us a little more info on what you are seeing with it changing "dynamically" based on keyword, please?

To clarify, I'm saying that the listing template now shows a bare minimum of item specifics (in the vinyl records category), but will show additional fields if certain keywords are used in the title. For example, If list "Metallica - Master of Puppets Vinyl LP", the "Style" and "Era" fields will not be present. But if I include "80s Heavy Metal" in the title, those item specifics will show. If I list a record and then in seller hub I see "Add 9 recommended item specifics", why must I do it AFTER I list the item and not while I'm listing it?

Hey @wastingtime101 thanks for gathering all of these reports up! I haven't received any updates on my end yet, but I did find an older alert that might have a similar or related root cause. I've passed that info along as well, and I'll be sure to report back any updates I get!

I'm having the same problem right now, but with movies and video games. The bulk of item specifics are nowhere to be found when creating a new listing. They only show up if I edit the listings after they've already gone live.

We too are experiencing this issue on both the app and desktop/laptop. On app. unable to see specifics for drafting or revision. Issue first noticed mid August. Started reaching out to customer service 9/17. Issues are all categories for both men and women clothing. See link to video.

Seriously, did nobody at eBay consider hiding the IS behind the see more link instead of removing them from the form?

Or removing IS that don't matter and keeping the ones that do matter? On clothing the garment care (machine wash / dry clean) is important info, but eBay thinks that's worth removing? Buyers may not search based on garment care, but many of them want to see that info in the listing before making a purchase. That's just one IS example from the clothing info posted upthread.

Isn't it amazing they did this and the ebay reps trying to help on all these threads had no idea it was intentional. Do just a couple geeks in the back do this stuff?

It's really frustrating, Fern.

With this change specifically: I am not against reducing IS. There are several IS that don't make sense and/or aren't needed. But ...

- Removing IS that are important and relevant?

- Making the change without letting sellers know what's going on - not even a pinned post on this forum until dozens of sellers started complaining?

- Making a change that creates extra work?

- Not considering hiding instead of removing IS, forcing sellers to revise listings to add the info?

- Messing with templates, too?

It seems like people that don't list and sell regularly are deciding these changes. They either aren't considering the impact outside of their initial goal, or they have no way to know what that impact is because they're not using the tools they're changing.
