Item Count in Ebay store different from Active Listings Count

I have noticed that the item count in my Ebay store is always different from the active listings count.  Today my store says search 674 items and my active listings count is 701 items.  I have not been able to figure this out.  My categories are correct - Jewelry and Watches (4 subcategories).  Can anyone point me to the problem?

Do you have quantity of any of these items? The total item count will include multiples of the same listing.

I don't think that I have any multiple item listing.  However, that said I don't ever know Ebays take on things.

Some sellers report this as being due to....

A - Items that are on the 30 day roll-over period

or

B - newly listed items that have not been indexed yet

Re: Item Count in Ebay store different from Active Listings Count

My experience with the item count/active listings discrepancy is due to listings with an eBay internal error at some point during an end and sell similar cycle.  When ending, especially in bulk, the listings will end, but an error will keep an item in an active state (with the original end date).  It's nearly impossible to catch, as one copy will end normally and be available in "unsold" category, and one copy will float around until original end date.  Thus, the difference between item count and active listings.  I've also found this to be one source of the infamous "ghost listing".

I currently have four potential ghost listings, with a discrepancy of 4 between item count and active listings.

I'm uploading one example, see below.

The orginal start date for this "ended" item was June 29th with a July 29th end date.  But, an error occurred when I bulk ended, so the listing below is both "active" and "unsold".  On July 29th, the listing will appear in my "unsold" category, with the potential for creating an out of stock/ghost listing.
