I sell Baseball memorabilia--mostly graded cards and unopened packs. Lately for all of my sales, eBay automatically adds Authenticity Guarantee to each of my sales--meaning I send to an authenticator for an inspection, and they then send the item to the buyer. eBay will only authenticate raw cards and graded cards. This isn't really an issue for my graded cards. However, recently, one my my packs was flagged for Authentication. I called eBay and explained that it cannot be authenticated (as it is a pack). The person I spoke to explained that because of how I worded my listing, it was falsely flagged for authentication. He stated I would still need to send it into authentication, at which point they would then realize the item cannot be authenticated (because it is a pack), and it was flagged when it shouldn't have been. At this point, he stated eBay would simply send the item to the buyer, and make a note that the item was falsely flagged. He assured me not to worry, and that my item (in this case a pack) would still reach the buyer. Has anyone else run into this problem? What was the outcome? How do I change the words in my listing (for packs) to prevent this in the future? I hate how Authenticity Guarantee is not an opt-in/opt-out deal.

I think the problem resulted from having those listed in the "Sports Trading Card Singles" category.
So I would watch carefully what category you list those in the future.

Thank you for your help! Unfortunately, it seems to make that the default category when I create a listing? Any way around this? What do I list under?
