Yes, but I have also had items sell within a couple minutes of listing them.

NO that isn't correct.  It can take up to 24 hours for listings to show up in the searches.  You can see them as the seller in your Active listings in your Seller Hub.  But it can take anywhere from moments up to 24 hours for them to show up in the searches.

The answer you selected is incorrect.

So have I. Record was 5 minutes for a pair of JNCO Slacker jeans.

How about having an item sell before you even listed it yet? Ever done that? I have, beat that! 😉

Feel free to ask me how (bait casted).

Re: Is this true?

It appears to depend on what the items are.

A seller found that their everyday items went straight up. But their main selling items, which was medals, took a day or more to show.

Is this true? A seller's listings may not show up under searches for up to 48 hours?

Are you asking if it is possible to list in such a way that the item does not appear in search within 48 hours?

Sure, it is possible. Indexing can take up to 24 hours, though it does not always take that long. Theoretically a seller could list an item and keep revising it and never actually allow indexing to finish, so the item would never appear in a search.

There are many things that a seller can do to make a listing difficult or even entirely impossible to find in a search.

Back when vacation settings were tied to a store subscription, one seller put the seller's store in vacation mode, then later decided to stop selling and end the store subscription.

When the seller decided to start selling again and began to list items, none of the seller's items appeared in search because the vacation settings were still in effect and could not be altered except through the now non-existent store page.

Re: Is this true?

Ebay may say 24 hours but I have had items take up to 48 hours so it is correct. I have found though that most items show shortly after being listed.

Re: Is this true?

Well, I am thinking some of my listings are not being shown at all. I had a white gold diamond brooch on here for 5 months and almost no views. I took it off and put it on my other site for 20.00 more and sold it that day. I have no idea what happened to Ebay but it just does not work for me anymore.

Which ones? Have you tried searching for them?

Was it this one, @laurabeardsley : https://www.ebay.com/itm/256567110473 ?

If so, I can say I would recommend trying to make sure your photos aren't blurry, that could have affected it.  The listing is visible now, and probably was that whole time, but something obviously made it unattractive for customers to even click on and view, which could have been any number of things.  Maybe someone better in the jewelry business can offer some more tips.

Hi @greatmidwestcoin

I’ve heard of First Class Mail being delivered after a few decades … but you wouldn’t normally say that a letter can take up to 30-40 years to arrive.

Similarly, I’ve heard of listings taking a few days to become active … but it’s usually said to take ‘up to 24 hours’.

Not as often.  The majority of listings post within 24 hours.  That is also stated in the User Agreement.

If an item takes longer to show up in the searches, it may be that Vero is taking a look at the listing or it is because of a brand name usage.

But the vast majority of listings show up in 24 hours or less.  It would be the exception that takes longer.

GREAT response.  It deserves repeating.

Re: Is this true?

I have had that happen quite a few times myself. Matter of fact I had some production switchers listed on here since Jan 2021. I just took them off on July 16th and put them on the local venue. Sold them on the 24th at the same price I had them on here. So it took 8 days to sell them in front of a much smaller audience as opposed to eBays huge audience. It really makes no difference how big the audience is if they only let a couple people in that audience see a product.

Ebay is definately not the great sales venue that it once was.
