Is this a scam?

I have two dresses that I listed for $200-250 and within the first hour I had offers for $300. They left in their notes to text or email them. I feel this is 99% sure a scam. Just wanted to check and see what others thought.

Re: Is this a scam?

Yes, it's an obvious scam that's repeated daily in here. Unfortunately some people fall for it. Never communicate outside of eBay messages.  Block their user ID's and report the communications to eBay.

Re: Is this a scam?

Put the "buyer" on your blocked bidder list NOWhttps://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?bidderblocklogin

They are offering you more money to appeal to your greed. They're not going to pay you - they're trying to steal your stuff.

NEVER give a potential buyer your email address or phone number. They don't need it. All they need to do is click the buy it now or the pay now button in the listing.  If you give them your email or number, they will then proceed to send you a very real looking fake Paypal payment email, in hopes that you are too naive/ignorant/greedy to actually log in to Paypal directly to verify payment.  This scam is very, very simple and very, very effective, because far too many sellers fall for it by 1. being greedy and 2. not verifying payment directly.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Same old scam attempt through eBay messages, different day.  Glad you didn't fall for it.  tyler@ebay

Re: Is this a scam?

Ebay can put algorithms in software to detect that you might have made a deal off ebay and they will charge you fees with no proof. But they will make no such adjustments to stop scammers like this from preying on sellers. After all.....if the scammer does push the buy it now button they get fees. You get scammed but at least they get paid.

ANYTIME a buyer wants to "text" you, block them.  It is a scam.  Never take your communication off Ebay.  If you do that, Ebay can't protect you or help you.  Just say NO!  All communication MUST be within the Ebay email system without exception.
