Is ebay limiting views?

Funny, it appears my item views have come to a screeching halt and items are not showing in catagory.  Is eBay limiting to try to get more promo fees?

Re: Is ebay limiting views?

The question you have asked is what I have been trying to figure out.  I have been selling in ebay for 26 years, almost from the beginning.  I sell antiques so almost everything in OOAK.  In days gone by I sold on average of 10- 12 items everyday, some high priced and some not.  I do everything ebay wants, take returns, ship in 24 hours, have 100% feedback, list 3-5 new items everyday.  I should be getting lots of views.  I am not.  In addition to the new system, they are regulating the views.  I am not sure why or how.  My theory is there are too many sellers.  Left on our own there are sellers who would not be doing well, the reasons would vary, too much duplication, bad performance, etc.  There are sellers who would preform well all the time.  Ebay some how is regulating the views to disperse the views and sales so everyone is making some sales.  They are trying to make sure everyone sells and takes away sales for the high performers.  I will have several days with 3-5 sales per day for a couple of weeks and then a week of maybe 1 or 2 sales.  I am anxious to hear what you all have to say about the theory.

Re: Is ebay limiting views?

I've been closely watching views and sales and looking for things to correlate them with.  This is not scientific, but I've been able to form a working theory based on my observations.  The data exists to test it if I choose to.  Not sure it's worth it.

What I've noticed is if anything bad happens with a buyer - lost package, canceled transaction, bad feedback, angry message, anything - even if it isn't my fault, like the PO loses a package (which is happening A LOT lately), sales take an immediate drop.  They start to come back up after 3-7 days.  I usually have returns come in clumps - 3-4 in a  short time then none for a while - and I always have a sales slowdown.

I'm sure there are many things programmed into the algorithm that limit your views and sales that they don't tell us about specifically, but cloak them in generic statements like "provide excellent customer service"

Funny thing though, I don't seem to get a boost in views and sales if I have a buyer who is really happy.

Re: Is ebay limiting views?

I am absolutely confident this is happening (their account listing views are being limited severely (as if being punished for quitting the program).
