Introducing Editor v2: Enhance your Message Editing & Posting experience

Editor v2 takes a big step forward in providing community users with a modern message editing experience. Read on to learn about all the message editor improvements.

Drag and drop images, videos, and attachments

With Editor v2, you can drag and drop images, videos, and file attachments directly to the message editing pane or as attachments to the post.

In-line image editing

To reposition, re-size (small, medium, large) and insert a hyperlink for an image, you need only click on the image and choose the appropriate option inline.

Improved emoji support

Emojis are a powerful medium for expressing one’s thoughts and emotions. An emoji such as “👍” can be used to replace the text - “All the Best!” or “Best of Luck!” or “Well Done!”.

Editor v2 brings you the Unicode standard set of 2500+ emojis divided across 8 categories. Emojis are supported across both Apple and Windows devices.

Inline link editing

When you click on a link or use the arrow keys to move the cursor over a link in your post, the inline link pop-up menu displays:clipboard_image_0.jpeg

From the inline link pop-up menu, you can click:

  • Edit Link: Opens the link editing window where you can change the existing link.
  • Unlink: Removes the link associated with this text.
  • Bare URL: Displays the actual URL of the link instead of the website title. (If the Bare URL is active, this button is disabled and greyed out.)
  • Auto Title: Displays the title of the linked webpage for the link text. (If the Auto Title is active, this button is disabled and greyed out.)
  • Open Link: Opens the linked URL in a new browser tab.

Toolbar button optimization and consistency

We made several improvements to the message editing toolbar to optimize it and make it more consistent:

Toolbars across all discussion styles are now consistent and have the same controls. Moreover, the toolbars include many more options that cater to all messaging scenarios.

We hope you enjoy using these new features!

The class, as in the class that wins, gets to intern?

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

Pretty funny that a board member who hasn't studied HTML in a long time has to figure out the problem. Where's your paycheck?

They are going to bill me for figuring it out probably 😧  I could be wrong on what the issue is though xD  I still don't know what the "class" attribute does.  I think it points to a configuration in their CSS that determines the configuration of the image that is their emoji.  Alternatively the problem could be "lia-deferred-image lia-image-emoji" that the class is pointing to?  Not gonna lie this is interesting to me but well over my head.  Not sure why they don't just use standard unicode for the emojis?

Because that wouldn’t be disruptive. I mean innovative.😂

Oh, and Alan, I've tried 2 or 3 times using the new emojis but they don't appear on my posts.  I did try different  ones.

If it appears, this one should be the eye heart face   😍

Hi @mam98031

What browser and device are you using? Are you seeing error messages or do the emojis just not appear when the post goes live?

Thanks!

Chrome

Desk Top

No error code, they just don't show up on my post.

I found with the red bar, when it comes up, Ctrl-C your text and then hit reload.  When if/when you get the login screen, just click sign-in to go back (logged in) to your previous point in your reply.  Then you get the 'reload or discard' or you can Ctrl-V and just keep going.  At least, that works for me.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

Thank you.  Copy and Paste is the best bet for me.  I have found that "reload" option isn't always correct either, it is often incomplete.  But the trick is to remember to do it.

I forgot to mention I have had several times, when posted to a threads, no red error message showed up, yet when I hit post and then the red message shows up and my post went poof.

regarding the red bar...i was cruising around my community profile and just noticed there is a section called Drafts...all my deleted posts that received the red bar were there! plus, each had a blue post block...so hit that, and my post was activated....wish i had found that before i did all the cut and pasting.

Maybe Ebay should try to spend as much time fixing their site as is wasted on the forums which are dying, and too heavily censored.

Or better yet, get rid of the forums entirely.

I posted on another thread that they look like counterfeit emojis. 😂

Probably imported them from a chinese site.

If it's not broken then why fix it?

Ebay fixed it and now it's broken.

If you want to enhance my posting and overall board experience, bring back the ignore button.

If you REALLY want to enhance the posting experience, add a general reply button - you know, one where a general post can be made instead of a reply to the poster you happen to be posting under. There would be no "in reply to: blah blah", just the time and date stamp.

Instead of quick reply and reply, both which are replies to the poster directly above, you would have a reply (general) and a reply to (direct reply) button.

That's MY biggest (by far) annoyance here - that and the authentication issues.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.
