Introducing Editor v2: Enhance your Message Editing & Posting experience

Editor v2 takes a big step forward in providing community users with a modern message editing experience. Read on to learn about all the message editor improvements.

Drag and drop images, videos, and attachments

With Editor v2, you can drag and drop images, videos, and file attachments directly to the message editing pane or as attachments to the post.

In-line image editing

To reposition, re-size (small, medium, large) and insert a hyperlink for an image, you need only click on the image and choose the appropriate option inline.

Improved emoji support

Emojis are a powerful medium for expressing one’s thoughts and emotions. An emoji such as “👍” can be used to replace the text - “All the Best!” or “Best of Luck!” or “Well Done!”.

Editor v2 brings you the Unicode standard set of 2500+ emojis divided across 8 categories. Emojis are supported across both Apple and Windows devices.

Inline link editing

When you click on a link or use the arrow keys to move the cursor over a link in your post, the inline link pop-up menu displays:clipboard_image_0.jpeg

From the inline link pop-up menu, you can click:

  • Edit Link: Opens the link editing window where you can change the existing link.
  • Unlink: Removes the link associated with this text.
  • Bare URL: Displays the actual URL of the link instead of the website title. (If the Bare URL is active, this button is disabled and greyed out.)
  • Auto Title: Displays the title of the linked webpage for the link text. (If the Auto Title is active, this button is disabled and greyed out.)
  • Open Link: Opens the linked URL in a new browser tab.

Toolbar button optimization and consistency

We made several improvements to the message editing toolbar to optimize it and make it more consistent:

Toolbars across all discussion styles are now consistent and have the same controls. Moreover, the toolbars include many more options that cater to all messaging scenarios.

We hope you enjoy using these new features!

A new issue for me today was the inability to leave a thumbs up unless you try several times.

There was also a new error message when I tagged a thread for one of the guys to pop in.  When I had it tagged for Brian, Tyler and Trinton, it absolutely would not let me post the response at all.  No matter how many times I tried.  But when I dropped it down to just one of the guys it let me post it.

Hi @mam98031

If you're experiencing new bugs, the best way of letting us know is to report here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Community-Platform-Feedback/bd-p/CommunityNews

Please create a thread for each issue. That helps to keep things clear.

Thank you.

Will Do, thank you.

Thanks everyone for the continued reports. I've asked Khoros to look into why emojis might not be displaying for some users. I'll let you know what we hear back.

this is a longshot, but you can turn off the emojis in preferences.........some people may have forgotten that they did it.  I kept wondering why I didn't see them, and then remembered I'd turned them off......

Hmmmm interesting, @dhbookds! We can definitely look into that too. Thanks for the suggestion. 😃

Yup, I see them.

Well I don't.

In this post, I can see the emojis in the quote in my draft. However, I can't see them in any of the posts showing on the public facing board. Oddly enough, for only the original post containing the emojis, if I mouse over the empty spaces, I can see the text description of what's supposed to be there. In subsequent quotes, even that text description does not always appear. Weird, to be sure.

Re: Introducing Editor v2: Enhance your Message Editing & Posting experience

Hi Alan,

The quote function doesn't work for me either.  Emojis also don't display, even ones that used to display in messages (The Christmas Tree), don't display anymore.

I purchased a new PC and iPhone during the holidays and will be testing with those soon and can update you.

My entire reply didn't show up in my last post.

The functionality is continuing to degrade and the user patience is being tested even further.

Hi @greg5000, thanks for sharing the details.

What browser and device are you using when experiencing these issues?

I see them only when doing a reply.  I could see them in posts before the upgrade.

I have looked in "preferences" here, but see no option to enable/disable, but then I am a bit computer challenged : > )  ☹️

@greg5000

Are you still using Windows 7  and IE 11? I ask because the quote feature obviously works for me. (See above.)

And the pull quote works for me, as well. (See below.)

lol, I spent 20 min looking for it and can't find it either.  I know I turned it off, when they first were offered,  as the moving things bother me when trying to read something.......and have never seen one since.

As far as I'm aware, based on a number of past posts, he uses Windows 7 and IE 11.

Re: Introducing Editor v2: Enhance your Message Editing & Posting experience

DH Are you sure you’re not remembering turning off signatures instead of emojis?
Some signatures have gifs in them that move and twinkle.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.
