I never thought most of those items would not last the week but here we are.  Zero competition.  Views, views, views.  Watchers, watchers, watchers.   1 low-baller who was willing to pay more for the same thing when they bid on an auction.  What is the most # of watchers you had on an item before it sold?  I'm at 10 in 5 days.  Wonder what the ratio is?   lol    Stay safe all.    🙂

Some folks are running out of money, so they window shop.

Remember when as a buyer you went store to store looking for the best price? eBay shoppers are doing the same thing without leaving the house.

watchers are exactly that>watchers and watchers are there for a variety of reasons including not there to purchase. I pay little attention to watchers since they are not  a good gauge for an item's successful purchase...watching  watchers is a waste of my time! leave 'em alone and wait for the real buyers...

The higher the difference between the price and what people will actually pay is the ratio you speak of. The more watchers the more over-priced, otherwise it would have sold. If an item in demand that typically sells for $100 is listed for $200 you would have many watchers and no buyers. That same $100 item listed at $40 would have very few watchers because it would be snagged up before more watchers could even see it.

I disagree, Watchers for me are a perfect gauge on weather an item I list would sell. The more watchers, the more in demand. Once you figure that part out the rest is easy, PRICE.

90% of my items sell without any watchers at all...Over the years, I have learned for myself that watchers are meaningless...I have many a LOL moment when these "watched" items from eBay sell on my other selling venue, a smaller lesser known site where they get so much less exposure than on eBay...

They all say that. If true stick to your other venue.

This ^^^  Number of watchers has never made any difference to my sales. I'll have stuff with 12-14 watchers go nowhere, and many of my items sell with no watchers at all.  I also have a  good click-through and sales rate, so when they see the item, they don't watch it, they buy it.

I put a bunch of my stuff on another site, too, but it's a site where I think those particular brands/styles have a better chance of selling. At least in fashion, eBay's market has spread out.

Hell is empty. And all the devils are here.

When I come across something in the fields I buy and sell in that is grossly over priced, I will sometimes watch it just to see if; it sells so I can list mine or they wake up and price to what the current market is. I have been watching one item for over 2 years the price goes up and down in the 20 $ range, problem is it is so way over market that no one bites. Doesn't help they have no clue how to write a description.

@coolections

A similar experience with watchers and my listings since they changed viewable watchers to 5. Item hits 5 watchers. Item magically sells. Currently I have over 100  + items with less than 5 watchers. Max is 3. With unique items it now takes forever to reach 5. Watchers for some sellers...Work!!!

Thanks eBay for your infinite wisdom to make this change!!

Ok.  So I have a hockey puck listed for $350 Canadian OBO.  2 of the same puck sold for $261 & $271 US.  It has 10 watchers & no competition.  There is your example of my higher priced listing.   Sorry to tell you your attempt to demean my listings / prices is hogwash.

Some watchers wait to see if you will make a offer.
