Please someone help me if you know. I have around 5000 sports cards from 1960-Current. So some of these cards might go for a quite a bit and some wont even sell. But the question I have is that I want to put all these cards up in a acution style lisiting. the problem is at 5000 cards at a $.30 insertion fee would equal out to $900 just to list so If some dont sell and they expire will I be charged another inseertion to relist? Some of these cards might only go for 50 cents so is their anyway that eBay allows someone to list lots of items (5000 plus) for under $1 without getting killed with the insertion fees. Please help if you know the answer. Thanks

Auctions aren't what they used to be here on eBay. Your best bet is to research the values beforehand. Maybe start with 50 free listings at a fixed price. If several hundred really do have a value, you might consider openning a store on eBay, where the listing prices are lower. Yes, you are charged a fee each time you relist.

Listing that many together may get a SNAD scammer who culls out the best cards and sends you back the rest.
And with that many, you might not even realize which are missing.
I would list your better ones separately, and maybe group the common ones together in small groups.

There are several store subscription levels, which can reduce the cost of insertions.
But before subscribing, make sure that you are permitted to list that many items.

As a new seller, you are going to be restricted in the number and value of listings you make each month.
So go to the Library and research those cards.
Cull the low value ones, make lots (all one player, all one team , all one year- you know more about cards than I do).
Now list those as auctions.
Build your feedback.
Low feedback and newbie sellers are scammer-meat.
Once you have established yourself-- my rule of thumb is when you have 10 DSRs and know what a DSR is --consider opening a Store.
Move to Fixed Price listings, now that you understand your customer base better.
Design your listings for mobile devices (but make the actual listing on a laptop or desktop, believe me.)
Now start listing the better but still common cards as singles. Use Good Til Cancelled/Fixed Price. Once up, just let them ride.
By now your restrictions should be lessened or removed if you have been doing this right.
And by now, you should know which cards you have are actually 'better'.
Some of those may need certificates. Which costs money. But that makes them more valuable too.
With 100 or so positive FB, you can feel comfortable about selling that 1964 Pete Rose rookie card. (Use Signature Confirmation when you ship it though.)
