love it! selling on eBay is a choice... sellers come, sellers stay, sellers leave...the circle of life on eBay...(or any selling venue, for that matter)

@buyologist-3 I started on ebay many years ago. From the very start, I paid listing fees in order to sell here (or try to sell). I believe that's called "pay to play." Hmmmmmmmmmm....Yup!

Figure to double your fees with promotional listings. If you have the budget in your profit margin Promotional fees should be used as they not only promote on eBay but other searchable sites. AND you may get someone looking at your other un-promoted items while they are in your listing.

It was already announced in the last seller update, but yes,
Instead of trying to increase the marketplace with marketing, lowering fees and encourage sellers to lower Prices as a result and bring more buyers,
Ebay is doing the opposite and Eats more of the sellers margins while making sellers eat other sellers in the Promoted listing race.
short term profits for Ebay, long term decline of the venue as a whole.
No surprises here.

I won't use Promoted listings on eBay ever again...
been there done that... several years ago, my usage of PLs for nearly a year on another of my selling sites yielded nothing...not one sale could ever be directly linked to the use of PLs... and in more recent years the usage of PLs on eBay was same= NO sale could ever be linked directly to the use of PLs and I don't aim to give eBay any more monies than they already don't deserve!!
I don't believe in paying and/or wasting monies on a race to see whose listings will get to the top/stay on top= I don't care!
C'est la vie! Que sera, sera!!
I take my chances with "whatever will be, will be"

You don't pay unless the item was purchased via PL's. Using PL Standard anyway. Some categories are really good to use PL's, others it makes no difference in. About 70% of my sales are from PL's, so I love it & would hate to go back to not having it. I don't mind spending $100 to sell $1200 that I wouldn't have sold otherwise.

NOPE!! In the beginning it's fees. Now it's pay a fee to be seen---at all----on TOP of said fees. Big difference if a person needs to go that route to keep making income. Things are tough, so why not work it? I like happy stockholders!

NOPE. The fee I paid ebay way back when was to be seen on ebay's platform, nothing more, nothing less. Pay to Play. If I wanted to "keep making income" on ebay back then, I had to keep paying the listing fee. It's ALWAYS been Pay to Play.

for those who want to use PLs, they are welcome to them... it's a seller's choice...
PLs may work for some sellers, but I have no reason to follow the herd... I will not indulge ...

Again, it depends ENTIRELY on what you sell. I listed a couple of things last night and already they have double-digit views. Those particular items have less than two full pages worth of competition, so why waste money on promoting them? One of them has 93 other ones listed and the other has 26-- if someone is looking for that item, they'll see mine.

Promoted listings are hardly a choice. You either use them, or get no visibility at all. PL's take precedence over all standard listings across the entire platform. If you aren't using them, then you are likely getting no views.
Search for anything or view any listing, what do you see? Promoted listings!
I sell DVD's and I wouldnt get a single view without PL's, literally none.
Your current feedback alone is proof that not using promoted listings means getting no traffic and no sales.
You stated quote, "I won't use Promoted listings on eBay ever again." Yeah, and you wont get any sales either.
