Is that what Chicken Little looks now?

You know, this is the worst possible place to come scream about quitting.  We are mostly sellers answering these questions and we wish most of you would quit.   So, why encourage us?

Making $20 today when it was $25 yesterday does not get resolved by making $0 tomorrow.

It will sting for sure - but no different than went doing PLs and offerring Free shipping.  You paid the full % against the total transaction then also.

Re: Increase for Promotional Fees In June!!!!!!!!!

@meme6253

This was part of the Seller Update, and there have been a number of threads about it. Are you just now hearing about this?

This impacts Promoted Listings Standard. Yes, it is a significant change. However, a seller still CHOOSES whether to use PLS, and a seller still CHOOSES the PLS rate. What the seller MUST take into consideration is that the rate the seller chooses will no longer be applied to the item price only, but (like the regular FVF) will be applied to the total transaction amount (item price, shipping and sales tax).

So, just as an example: Seller chooses 5% PLS. Item price is $100, Shipping is $10, Sales Tax is $6.00. Today: That 5% PLS will cost the seller $5.00. When the change goes into effect, that same 5% PLS will cost the seller $5.80 (5% of $116.00)

So, yes, this will have an impact. Which is why I posted about it the day of the Update, but most people wanted to focus on the relatively small FVF increase instead. It's just one more thing sellers need to consider when deciding whether to use PLS and what rate to set.

We can adapt or not.....same as it ever was.

Re: Increase for Promotional Fees In June!!!!!!!!!

I looked at your Active Listings and what you have Sold for the past 90 days. Respectfully, your evaporation rate is lukewarm. When my evaporation rate had gotten lukewarm at times, I stopped buying those same slow selling items for resale. I improved my business model by listing different items in other categories.

There is a saying about doing the same thing they same way and expecting different results. It was clever for eBay to invent Promoted Listings. Now sellers have the option of doing the same thing AND paying eBay more money in the process.
a: Making less income to pay for the Promoted Listings
b: Raising prices to maintain income to pay for Promoted Listings

With the current economic landscape, high shipping costs due to the current constraints - doubt raising prices is going to help Sellers right now/be viable, much of an option.

@katzrul15 "With the current economic landscape, high shipping costs due to the current constraints - doubt raising prices is going to help Sellers right now/be viable, much of an option."

That depends on the individual seller and his prices and margins.  Sellers on tighter margins an in very price competitive categories will have to make some difficult decisions. But sellers with strong margins and selling items that are not as price sensitive, will have much more wiggle room here. I will play around with this, but ultimately will probably be more granular about which items go into a PLS campaign , but will probably not change prices on most items, as my margins tend to be pretty strong.

But this is like any change: each seller has to figure out what to do to adapt. Not everyone will adapt the same way.

Re: Increase for Promotional Fees In June!!!!!!!!!

While I liked taking advantage of lower Promoted Listings fees because I don't usually do free shipping. It also makes it fair and brings it to parity with the 'free' shippers. I think it will include sales tax now, which kind of sucks. But will just roll with it.

My Promoted Listing percentage is set to a pretty low rate as it is though. I might feel a little different if it was at 5 or 10%.

Re: Increase for Promotional Fees In June!!!!!!!!!

and  NO ONE is forcing you to use promoted listings!!

Using promoted listings is a CHOICE...use or not use...

don't see how it should make any difference unless you are a seller who totally relies on promoted listings...whereas many many sellers NEVER use/have never used and won't ever use!
