Are our insertion fees enough to keep eBay happy ?

I have to sell stuff or my account will be suspended for the fees I incur with no sales

Are you only using eBay for your online sales? You said customers from social media are unable to find your listings....have you considered selling ON social media? No fees involved there other than payment processing fees....

Hello there.

Are all of your items meant to have free shipping or only select items?

I see just a few examples:

The SCIO Pottery Dinner Plate Currier & Ives Green Old Grist Mill With Yoke and Plow shows for $7.99 + $10.28 shipping

and the Condor Compact/Lightweight Plate Carrier Coyote Tan Molle Capable shows for $41.95 + $17.15 shipping

I have no idea if these are reasonable shipping costs or not, but I would say any item that the price of shipping is more than the price of the item or nearly half the price of the item may have a difficult time selling...

For a full time seller as yourself I would hope you have your items listed on at least two sites if not more. You cannot rely on only Ebay as many of your items are things people buy at stores and not on the internet.

Here is something else to consider, check out this thread:

http://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/OUT-OF-THE-SHADOWS-INTO-THE-LIGHT/m-p/27537293#M1051560

Not sure if you use GTC listings or 30-day listings, but it may be something to try to increase your sales?

I've seen several other people make comments regarding this in other threads as well.

Perhaps a re-vamping of titles would help.

They say the first four words are the most important and that any characters like

/ and & bog down search.

The word, the before SCIO is unnecessary.

people on social sites have come here looking for my items and cannot find them

Can you ask them exactly what they are searching for, and exactly what search terms they are using, and post them here? When all we get is a vague allusion to a problem, there is really nothing we can do.

I am truly discouraged I cannot make it on 500 per month in sales

And I am truly confused. On the same account you posted with, I see $3,300+ in sales just in September.

I have tried other sites yardsales swap meets etc

If your items are not selling anywhere, I would take a good hard look at your inventory and perhaps start selling something else.

I have 434k in inventory

Have you considered wholesaling your inventory and going smaller? Even if you only got 10 cents on the dollar, that is better than losing money every month  - and it would be enough for gas, rent & phone for eseveral months while you figure something else out.

Lucky, you can't always tell how much a seller might pocket in PROFIT just from what their sales look like.  There are sellers who seem to be selling many dollars worth of merchandise each month, but their acquisition costs are far too high, and after all costs/expenses are paid, there just isn't all that much of that impressive amount to pocket.  They can look great and be starving.  Another seller may have far fewer sales at much lower dollar figures, but it's practically all pure profit!

I was also going to agree with your point about merchandise that just doesn't do well enough here.  There are just certain areas where online sales / eBay sales aren't going to be in the numbers you need to make a living.  I don't know anything about this category and merchandise, but perhaps it's one of those areas that isn't very well suited to selling profitably on eBay.  Smiley Sad

No argument here. But the OP specifically said $500 in sales, not $500 in profit.

Thanx all I did not sell 3300 in the month of September are you looking at 30 or 60 days of sales ?

I did sell some seats that were used for sturgis and returned but that was last month yep we run a rent a seat store NOT Really but ebay thinks so

this month I sold a leather seat a drop hitch swab it s gloves and a few small items

to make a 499.00 seat it cost me leather time fees and 40 bucks shipping

I made a very good living on here for 10 years so I know my items are suited to this venue

I believe I am not being seen for that last 90 days

I have edited over and over again

seems like I did okay selling stuff from around the house and my closet maybe I need to list more high end clothes and shoes handbags

You have 2 areas of the country that are devastated where bikers ride year round. The northerners are getting ready to put their bikes away for the winter weather - plus if anyone looks at the response to that neg - they may be turned off.

You have some very nice items and I hope it works out for you.
