This is the first time I have received an offer with the notice saying that buyer preselected payment method and item will be paid for immediately upon acceptance of offer. I accepted the offer but have yet to get paid. Does it take some time for the payment to clear? Or is there a glitch keeping payments from going through?

Dude!! Same here! What's the deal with this?!?!?

I'm having same issue on three separate offers. Oddly enough it's the same buyer. Feel like they are trying to scam me. The buyer , not ebay.

I had one of these a few days ago. The payment took a few hours to post once I accepted the offer. Not exactly immediate but a heck of a lot better than the typical few days later! If it's only been a short time, just wait it should go through. The word "immediate" is a bit misleading to say the least!

I never heard of offers accepted covered by immediate payments. Did you send an offer for less than your asking price?

eBay is (has been for about a year) testing a system where buyers who make an offer have to agree to immediate payment if accepted. They agree by providing their payment information upfront before they make their offer.
Currently only a few buyers are in the test.

Gotcha... haven't heard of that! Thanks! That would be awesome if that was the case all around! Long overdue

If you do not ever get multiple purchases from the same buyer or buyers that make offers on more than one item it should work for you. Again, it requires the BUYER ID that is enrolled to make it work, and they are not happy about it. One of the main complaints has been about eBay's payment authorization holds. They do not drop off even after the funds have been claimed, making the buyer not have the same amount available for days.
Though we all would be glad to see the eBay enroll the "text me" scammer buyer IDs in this program it seems to have been applied to the BUYER IDs at random. The incentive to make offers on more than one of your items is eliminated due to making the situation "immediate payment required" and paying the full shipping on all that could easily be combined for a lesser cost.

It was supposed to be rolled out site-wide by end of 2022 (deadline missed) for offers, then expanded to auctions at some point in 2023. Wonder if they're running into a lot of issues with the buyers already opted in.

Some buyers have recently been opted out, who were formerly required to submit payment in advance when making offers. I suspect this may be because some buyers just refused to do it, and stopped making offers instead.
Some sellers have reported receiving fewer offers since this started, and have therefore turned it off in their buyer requirements.
There have always been reports of buyers funds being tied for lengthy periods (a week to a month) because eBay has not released the funds effectively or promptly. That is on the merchant (eBay), because other merchants who use pre-authorizations (gas stations, for example) are able to release the funds promptly (within hours or minutes). Other buyers have reported that the pre-authorization was not actually used, instead, another payment was processed and the pre-authorized payment languished with the funds tied up for days or weeks.

While most buyers do pay promptly because they want their purchase as soon as possible, being forced to do so may not go over all that well.
Until the testing, sellers were asking for IPR to remain on BO, but there is unlikely to be any demand from buyers.
On Fixed Price items with BO, we don't see many complaints about BO payments being delayed and usually those payments are as fast as FP/IPR or only a few hours later if the customer is not at their computer when the BO is accepted.
The problem with Unpaids remains overwhelmingly with Auctions, where winning bidders are thrill bidding, forgetting that they had bid a few days ago, or have purchased elsewhere while the auction slowly moves to its end.
I see this as a solution without a problem.

If you do offers, and get a lot of offers. You should occasionally see "this offer will be paid immediate" or something like that. It is at the bottom so can sometimes be a little easy to miss.

Maybe. Funny enough the handful of times I got the immediate payment offers, it was one I countered. heh.
Personally, I'd rather they wait to push it in first quarter anyhow. The last thing we would need is it being rolled out in fourth quarter and deal with any payment bugs that may arise because of it.
