I don't imagine so, I have changed providers and moved a bit, been on eBay at someone's elses place using their wi-fi and so far I am still here. Not sure how it all works in Sri Lanka though

I'm not really sure about this, but I 've heard our Selling community say it's exactly what I want to confirm.

Tech guy here. Ebay will not suspend you if you change your IP address, and despite what most people say online, it is not illegal. Now if the IP address changes, the worst ebay may do is have you verify your email because they might assume you are logging in from another device.
Besides the IP address is a nametag for your device. It tells the Wi-Fi who it is and other devices as well. You can change your IP address easily, but there is nothing illegal about doing it (generally)
Now in Sri Lanka, I did some research and did not find anything about it being illegal. I would contact your internet provider to double check 🙂

I read many posts in here about all people that live in Sri Lanka are scammers and it's illegal to be on Ebay there, and on and on. They say they are using the posts here to scam us.
So how can this person be on ebay selling things if all these many posts are true. I don't get it.
No offense to you technoviq, it's just what I've read about over and over.

The Sri Lankan government have very strict anti terrorism and money laundering laws and paypal is forbidden for accepting funds by Sri Lankan sellers (residents).
The seller signs up as US, then changes to Sri Lanka and links a paypal account (anyone can do that anywhere) even though they can be prosecuted by their own govt.
Some may not know this, but I think most are aware. Once managed payments is rolled out Paypal will cease to exist within eBay and the Sri Lankan sellers will not be able to use the 'dodgy paypal' accounts anyway.
I can't say whether they are scammers, as most seem lovely, but I would never purchase from them because they are breaking laws and I want no part of that

From what I understand, Sri Lankans and other international countries, can now sign up with Payoneer to sell on eBay, legally.

Thanks for the explanation. I just don't see how a whole country, millions of people can be expected to know all the laws. Maybe some live in the countryside and just got a computer or cell last week. But when they come here on these boards they are just piled on about being scammers and told to leave.
