I'll give the cliff notes version of this, because this has been a long and drawn out process that I still dunno what to do with:
Buyer buys item Sept 13th
Buyer 5 mins later says they made a mistake and asks to cancel
Cancellation is granted and refund is made. Ebay status even says cancelled.
On Sept 16th $150 gets sent to my bank account.
Contact ebay they say they've never seen anything like this and aren't sure what to do.
Through multiple calls from ebay for the next month an ebay rep suggests the buyer open an INR which they do on October 9th.
I try to refund through the INR and it says the item is cancelled and the refund has already gone through processing.
Couple days later the status shows this:
"Refund processing
We'll email you when the refund payment is complete. At that time, we'll also close the request."
Sometime and bout 15 calls to CSR later they tell me to have the buyer contact them directly.
The buyer contacts and responds to my last message and says they received their refund from ebay.
I call ebay yesterday and they claim there is no record of this.
INR case remains open.
So what next??? Buyer claims they have their refund, ebay claims they didn't send anything. Case has been open for 2 months.
It is a GSP transaction so is it possible GSP just gave a courtesy refund?

Very strange story indeed. So in summation you are not out your product as nothing was ever shipped and buyer is not out anything now that they've been fully refunded. The only issue is you have the INR case still open. Does this show up in your seller account as a demerit against you? Did you receive your FVF's credited back?

Fees were refunded. Order details say "This order has been cancelled."
Yet I'm getting daily reminders to ship the thing.
Correct nothing was ever shipped, no its just showing on my like daily to do list. It has a star next to it though does that mean anything?

Are you sure that $150 was even from the same buyer in the first place? What if it was like your mom sending you a $150 gift?
At that moment I would’ve just contacted to buyer to confirm if they received a refund. If they say yes, then I would do nothing more until someone contacts me about the $150. Many times contacting ebay just over complicates things. Case in point.

If that is the only thing than you may have to learn to ignore it. You aren't out of pocket and neither is your buyer. Annoying to say the least but money is what counts. Go to your seller hub and have a look at your seller's performance to make sure you do not see this coming up as an unresolved issue. That is my only concern. The notices are only annoying at best.

Yea buyers response the other day :
"I have already received my money back. Thank you."
My response "From ebay?"
Their response "Yes."
Yea it's def associated with their purchase, because ebay put a hold on that same $150 on October 9th, but then released the hold on November 9th after the case went 30 days with no resolution. Why didn't the case close out then?
