So the first item I listed was a PS4 with a controller and a game, and of course, my first sale was a non-paying Ebayer. I have relisted that item and have been watching many videos on listing, shipping, and how to avoid these basic mistakes in the future. Admittedly it is a bit frustrating for the first listing to go bad when I decide to return to eBay. My plan now is to have good communication with others here in the eBay community.
Thanks in advance.

"... and of course, my first sale was a non-paying Ebayer."
I hope you cancelled the order citing 'Buyer didn't pay' so that that eBayer will get the defect they earned.

Make sure it's immediate payment required. IPR

Just as important, are you registered for ManagedPayments?
Unless you are, when you find a paying customer, eBay cannot transfer the money to your bank.
They need your SSN and your checking account information.
And any payment will be on Hold for up to 30 days pending confirmation of customer satisfaction.
And welcome to the Selling Board.
You'll find a lot of good advice, some moaning, some commiseration, and some tough love here.

The only way to come close to avoiding nonpayers is with BIN, IPR.
There was no "mistake" on your part. Nonpayers are a part of the process here.
Just cancel, citing buyer did not pay, and move on.
