Hello everyone,
I bought a camera on Friday and decided to change my mind a few hours after i ordered it. After the time of requesting a return has started, i submitted a request to return before the item was shipped. I also contacted the seller to cancel my order, but hasn't messaged back.
I have until April 2nd to return the item, if the item is shipped to my house, but I'm afraid that the item won't be there before the deadline as i read feedbacks of the seller that they take LONG delievery times.
Did i screw myself over and acted to quickly?

Yes

Yes, you did. You cannot request a return before you receive the item. You can only request a cancellation, but sellers do not have to honor that request.
When you receive the widget, you can:

I may have to call the seller's customer service line if the cancellation request doesn't go through.. hopefully all goes well..

Sorry but you opened a return too quickly. You don't even have the item to return, so that option should not have been used.
A cancellation request is just a request, it is not guaranteed, seller has three days to decide whether they will accept or decline the request.
I can only suggest trying to be absolutely sure before you purchase, and if you don't like the estimated delivery timeframe, to just not buy.
If you receive the item, you will need to pay return shipping if you want it returned. You can, if you choose, gift it to someone or list it to sell. Evaluate your buying pattern carefully to avoid these situations, and good luck.

eBay shouldn't even allow return requests until the estimated delivery date has passed just to prevent things like this.

The return case was opened in PayPal, correct?
PayPal has a 7-day waiting period after payment to open a case.

Did you open this Return Request in eBay? Does the seller accept returns? If so, the acceptance was automatic.
The April 2 deadline is seldom a problem, so don't worry about it. eBay won't hold you to that deadline since delivery hasn't been recorded. However....
May I ask, is this something you do frequently - buy something and change your mind hours later?
For future:
1. Never open a return request for something you haven't even received yet
2. Don't purchase something and then change your mind
3. If you absolutely MUST ask for a sale to be cancelled, send a message to the seller - don't open a Return Request - that just makes for confusion and befuddlement.

Actually they don't but sometimes this does occur. I don't know why.
No-fault return requests aren't subject to the same timelines as Item Not Received requests.
Consider - if you receive an item the day after you buy it but the seller has (for example) a 5 day published handling time, by media mail but sends it by Priority Mail, so it reaches you faster, and you want to return it, do you think you should be required to wait an extra week before you can submit a request to return the item?

If you requested a return before you had received the item your request was out of order. If you have not yet received the item, you have nothing to return.
It sounds like you also requested a cancellation of the transaction which would be the proper request to make. However, sellers are not required to accept a request to cancel and may not honor it.
In your case, your item will hopefully arrive in time for you to return it for your refund otherwise the seller may be able to have your request closed since you would have failed to meet the deadline for the return.
It pays to be sure that you want to buy something before ordering it.
