I'm done with eBay πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

I love how eBay steals your stuff and gives it to the buyer who cries that item arrived damaged or not as advertised!!! They say that they review the case and messages but clearly they don't or I wouldn't of had my item stolen and a negative balance owed for shipping due to a buyer who lies and cries to eBay about how the item is no good!! eBay don't forget without the buyers AND SELLERS you guys are nothing! I'm done with your lazy customer service and stealing so you won't see me here anymore. To everyone else getting robbed here I'll see you on Amazon!!!

Re: I'm done with eBay πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

Another seller with a No Returns policy.  I'll say the same thing to you that I just said to someone else about 90 seconds ago:

No Returns does not mean No Refunds on eBay.  No Returns is applicable only for so-called "buyer's remorse," and no buyer admits to that even when it is the case, so it is a useless policy.

In fact, as you have learned, your No Returns policy is worse than useless because what it means to eBay is that when a refund is issued, you do not want the item back.

And every  dishonest  buyer on eBay smiles to see that No Returns policy, while it makes the honest ones a bit leery of dealing with you.

I am sorry this happened to you.

As an aside, you will find the policy is exactly the same on Amazon, which is even more buyer-centric than eBay.

Re: I'm done with eBay πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

If the item arrived damaged file a insurance claim with USPS or whatever shipper you used, provided the class of postage you used has insurance. It's a painful process and will probably require the assistance of your buyer. Have them keep the item and the original packing since USPS will probably want them to take it into a local PO for inspection. If the postal worker, usually the postmaster, agrees that the item was damaged in shipping they will keep it and file the electronic forms to start the refund process. It can take up to 90 days for you to get a check from USPS. I have had two of these in the last few years and USPS paid in both cases. Not sure how you shipped the item but the timetable for filing claims with USPS is below.

One buyer had opened a claim damaged in shipping but as soon as I asked them to keep the item and original packing that I was filing a claim with USPS and they would probably be contacted by USPS to bring the item into the post office for inspection they dropped/closed the claim.

NAD cases are another matter and you may as well refund. If you don't and the buyer asks eBay to step in you will loose and eBay will unilaterally take the funds from your account and you will probably not get the item back. As others noted no returns does not mean no refunds.

I appreciate your insight Maxine. It's unfortunate that this is even an issue and too bad when either buyer or seller is taken advantage of.

Re: I'm done with eBay πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

I guess this is your exit interview. Good luck.

I don't get why people that are done selling on eBay need to create a "I'm done here, I'm closing my store, I'm leaving"

Are you expecting others to follow you?

Is this your way to get back at eBay?

We've all have read the same posts over and over, have seen the same problems. Everyone has choices and decide to sell where they feel comfortable at.

At any rate, good luck on your decision, and Merry Christmas.

Without all the buyers and all the sellers, eBay would indeed be nothing. But individual sellers come and go all the time with no perceptible impact whatsoever.

Re: I'm done with eBay πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

ya i am right there with you....ebay treats sellers like absolute crap!    i cant even get enyone to call me back from ebay for a problem i am having. (going on two MONTHS!)    i cannot see how anyone with higher dolar items can sell on ebay and not loose their shirt.  THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!    no matter what!   give them their money and by the way, they can also keep your item!   this will be ebay's downfall.

Bottom line: eBay wants sellers to handle their own business. Be proactive. Maybe you need to revisit your Return policy.

Re: I'm done with eBay πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

They only keep the item and get their money back if the seller doesn’t accept the return.

Sellers have to realize if a buyer wants to return something and get their money back they will figure a way even when the seller won’t cooperate. They will usually contact the seller and if they don’t cooperate they will go thru eBay’s money back guarantee. If eBay doesn’t cooperate the savvy buyers will file a dispute/chargeback with their bank.

I have been selling mail order before eBay’s existence and if you accepted credit cards like I have you will know that there is no such thing as no returns and no refunds. Most banks allow users of credit or debit cards to file disputes/chargebacks for 6 months from the date of sale. As a seller good luck in winning a dispute/chargeback when a buyer claims item not as described.

I really don’t understand when sellers won’t accept returns. As a buyer myself I will rarely if ever buy anything from a seller that doesn’t offer free returns. I sell hundreds of items on eBay each month and only get a handful of returns and I have a no questions asked return policy. I pay for return shipping and will refund shipping paid by buyer that was paid previously. I also have zero defects. I budget 2% of sales in business plan for return cost, lost items, damaged during transit, scammers, and etc. In other words it’s included in the price I charge for items.

Re: I'm done with eBay πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

It goes both ways.  As a buyer I am about done with eBay as well. Tired of bait and switch listings, and packing jobs so poor the item never had a chance of arriving safely.
