I'm Done!!

Been selling items for years.  Currently my seller rating is at 99.1, I sell used items and ebay wants an almost perfect selling experience and no returns, can't happen, I am not selling a plastic phone case.  Your (Ebay) policies have become unrealistic, your fees insane, your return policy makes Obama look like a republician they are so liberal.  You can only rip off your sellers so much!  As soon as my inventory dwindles I am gone, thank goodness I didn't depend on  this crazy company for my primary income.  PS>you are not Amazon, stop copying them (DUH)!  F off Ebay, good bye!!

??? Sorry ed - I may be a little tired - but I don't get the comment. Are you being sarcastic?

Nothing about raising employee performance - like Christmas, New Years Day and other federal holiday in the US - the postal and shipping services are closed in Canada on Victoria's Day. Amazon goofed as items couldn't have been shipped that day - meanwhile they upset a bunch of sellers with suspension letters.

I shouldn't speak for ed108, but I wonder if s/he was actually referring to this sentence in your post (and maybe accidentally deleted the wrong section):

"Some one redid the Amazon Canada Holiday closures and didn't block off Victoria's Day - now3 we have all these CA sellers upset."

When I originally read ed108's post, I assumed the reference was to the employee who redid the calendar incorrectly and caused all the trouble.

Maybe?

I'm not sure I follow. When it comes to returns, doesn't eBay only penalize sellers for not taking them?

Not sure about the returns since I have never had one yet (thank goodness), but I'm not sure I can follow the OP's political comment.  eBay might be liberal with some of their policies but ... IMO, that has nothing to do with the other political side.

Re: I'm Done!!

Just wanted to point out that, by posting here, you apparently believe you're addressing eBay, its management or employees.

When you post here, you are addressing a large group of fellow eBayers, experienced buyers and sellers, who volunteer their time to help others when they can.

The "you" that your message should go to will probably not read it here.

That's how I read it.  Amz isn't the only one with employees who think national holidays are shipping days either.

There is certainly a need for most organizations to raise standards of employee performance.

This is true of eBay as well.  And sellers are not eBay's employees, btw.

Could be - thanks - there were a few of us wondering what was meant - but that could be it!

Re: I'm Done!!

A quick 30 second look shows me your buyers are saying you do not write good enough descriptions and omit any flaws and that you need to package better. If you change those two problems you would likely have less returns. It's up to you if you choose to leave instead.

I've had 20 returns out of 1,200 transactions, my sales are up 350% since last year, and 50% up since this time last month, and I sometimes am so elated that I'm doing well and then I come on the forums and see nothing but doom and gloom negativity and start freaking out because I see so many conspiracy theories and horror stories on here, and, I'm not experiencing ALL of the things everyone else is. Mind you, though, I have my fair share of issues on Ebay, too. I've been selling for over 15 years and have seen it all. I've had slow periods and times of zero sales or slow sales and terrible visibility even back in the days before all this talk about lowered visibility and all that was rampant. Last May, I had 500+ items listed and only managed to sell 23 things. This May, I've sold 150 items or so thus far. Last year, I had an even lower return rate than I do now and my visibility and all that jazz (and sales) is excellent nowadays because I try to list at least 20 new items daily, which boosts visibility, and I've found that to be the #1 thing that boosts sales - listing something daily, especially if it's at least 10 new items daily. Food for thought. Sorry you're going through this but you CAN do well on here and it's not impossible to thrive or improve things.

So good to hear some good news for a change! Glad you are doing so well. Hope it continues for you. I, myself, am going the way of the OP  -- fed up ---- giving it up and going on to hopefully greener pastures elsewhere as soon as my listings all end.

I guess I'm not able to detect when other seller have remorse returns.

If you aren't in contact with other sellers, you might not know this.

Plues there is evidence on the Board~which maybe you missed.

So not a hard conclusion to come to.

It's not just Ebay tho that is messed up! I'm on the Amazon boards now - sellers on Amazon Ca have received letters notifying them that they have been suspended due to not mailing out their packages on Victoria's Day - which is a Canadian Holiday wherein there is no postal service or shipping companies open. Some one redid the Amazon Canada Holiday closures and didn't block off Victoria's Day - now3 we have all these CA sellers upset.

Seems Ebay is not the only place that has problems with holidays.

Re: I'm Done!!

To clarify maybe, I have been selling on ebay before it was even common to do that.
Back in the days of desktop computers and CRT monitors i was making several hundred dollars on each computer I refurbed.  I was into Roomba's which can be tempermental at times especially when UPS body slams the box down.  Like I stated I don't sell phone cases, and I don't want to make .50 cents a sale.  I'mprobably just getting old, because in my mind making a dollar or two a sale, and working my butt off for that is crazy.  Most part time and small sellers just quite, you never hear from them, and eventually when you need a part for something you won't be able to find it (because almost no company stocks parts anymore - Need a sensor or  front bumper for that 900.00 Roomba, aint happening) that is part of the original appeal Ebay had for me.  I could buy and sell items that you couldn't find anywhere for a reasonable price.  I could make a reasonable profit without working like a iphone glass maker in china!  Just like the rest of America, common sense has left the building.  The craziest part of Ebay is when you sell a broken item, list it for parts or repair, state it doesn't work 4 times and the buyer tells you they want to return it because it doesn't work - and then Ebay allows it?  And yes my strong language conveys my sadness over the greed of Ebay.  You people selling are becoming poorer and poorer and a few people at the top of Ebay are laughing because you keep selling your items at slimmer and slimmer profits.  It's okay to make a profit, the question is at what point do they stop raising their profit levels, and the answer is never.  It is not doom and gloom, just the facts, which most people are afraid of.  The little seller of unusual parts or hard to find items is being shoved out and replaced with plastic phone cases and cheap TV's ( lost your TV remote, try to get one from the company-ha!) Just wait until all the truck drivers are replaced with robots, and you have to place your own order at McDonalds, and check yourself out  - then who will be able to afford your plastic phone case or your cheap TV - oops no one!  Like most things, it was good while it lasted!  no regrets, will still buy stuff from Ebay but the days of selling a handful of items and making some GOOD spending money are definitively gone.  Read up on China and Mexico because that is where we are headed, 90% poor people and 10% rich.  Wow that was a great rant, don't bother responding to me-  I think this was cheaper and more fun than a bad movie!
