..and I am starting to refuse doing business with people who use them.
UPS has:
- Cancelled delivering packages to my house when I lived in another state multiple times due to snow. A few inches I get, but they have done this with a dusting of snow, and FedEx/USPS delivered as usual. I've seen Fedex drivers deliver packages in JEEPS.
-My parents sell on eBay, and UPS somehow lost a 150lb solid cast iron wheel weight for a garden tractor. You don't "lose" a 150lb object, it doesn't get swept under the rug, it gets STOLEN by an employee.
-It took them 6 months for UPS to pay out a claim, and they kept citing "improper packaging", when it was shipped in a BANDED WOODEN CRATE. It took an eyewitness account of the staples employee who saw how well it was packaged for them to finally settle.
-Since that ordeal, UPS has mysteriously "lost" packages many times when I have ordered from sellers here or other websites.
-When I lived at a house. A UPS truck got stuck. Instead of getting a tow, they made a 25 foot long rut 13 inches deep in my yard. They never apologized, even after calling them. They acted like they didn't care.
- 3 years ago, being desperate, I took a job offer at UPS unloading trucks. They never had anyone helping me on "team lift" boxes, and I would routinely have to move 120-150lb boxes BY MYSELF. I quit after 2 weeks.
-This is not me complaining, UPS has TONS of OSHA violations. People have died from heat exhaustion working in the hubs. They give you **bleep** if you ask to get water.
-Since moving to an apartment, UPS will NOT leave packages at my doorstep, citing "they don't do this at apartments". They have NO ISSUE leaving boxes at HOUSES on the STREET where you can easily see a big box as one drives by. My apartment is off a main road and several blocks down, far out of sight of anyone except those who live here. I'm not talking insured or signature required boxes either. That I can understand.
The issue is this delays the shipment an entire day, which sucks if it is for printer toner or other business supplies. The pickup place is a good 20 minutes away.
Sorry for the long rant. It just seems like UPS has constantly tried to pull one over on me. I only ship big stuff with FedEx, and I've only had a couple package issues and they sent me a check within a week.
