How to : Automatic Bid Increase?

You don't do anything to automatic bid increase for your own listings.

If a bidder wants to have his bid increased automatically on an item he wants to purchase, he puts his maximum bid in, and the system would automatically increase for him up to his maximum amount.

For example, say someone sees something he'd like to bid on and the opening bid is $10.  He is willing to pay $40 and enters that bid. Since he is the only bidder, his bid would be $10. Someone comes in and bids him up to $15, he would still be the highest bidder at $16, and so on, and so on until someone comes in and bids $41 at which point the first bidder with the maximum automated bid of $40 would be out.

There is nothing a seller needs to do, to have automated bids on thier listings. The ebay system does it automatically.

First off it's for bidders / buyers.    Nothing like that for sellers.

How it works.    There is an item say for 5.00  minimum bid.  You could  bid more than that.  say 50.00.  eBay will only use enough of that extra to keep you the high bidder.  You won't pay the full 50.00 unless it's needed to keep you on top.   It's best to place such a bid near the end of the auction sp other bidders wont " nibble " at it.  Also known as proxy bidding.
