I know I'm going to hear answers across the spectrum. But I'm still curious. How many times do you let them cancel (whether it be official ebay cancellation or after that time window and thru messages) before you BBL?
I just blocked a few buyers who I've checked I had to cancel for 3+ times. These buyers never completed a successful (non-cancellation transaction with me before). There's two buyers who actually seem pretty upset that I won't let them buy anymore. One of them has 5 cancelled transactions with me spanning thru 2 years. Why should they even be upset? What would they be missing... they never even fully purchased anything from me before.

What few does eBay keep? With every cancellation, eBay credits the FVF. Am I missing something? Or are you referring to cancellations after payment?

LOL depends completely on my mood and the way they phrase the request.
oops bought the wrong card - cancel and don't even think about it
I meant to buy x but clicked on y can you cancel the first card - cancel and go on with life don't even check to see if they come back and buy x
My kids were on my eBay and bought these things I need you to cancel it please - block shouldn't be letting the kids on your account.
I woke up on the wrong side of the bed:
oops bought the wrong card I actually wanted this one instead can we cancel the other one - cancel and stew about it probably put their name on the naughty list and see if they do it more than once then block if it happens again
I need to cancel this (no reason given) - cancel and block
any other excuse and I just cancel and block... again on days I'm just mad at the world.

If someone is polite and apologetic, they get an "Of course, no problem - come again soon" and don't get blocked.
If they are a pain in the youknow or rude, they don't even get a responding message, just the cancel and a block.
ROFL found yours after I posted mine 😄

I usually try to get a reason especially if they already paid since I don't get a fee refund from paypal. If the don't respond or it's a bad reason they are blocked. I block people who order multiple items and cancel them all. I am trying to be more forgiving with cancellations because they happen a lot more now.

🙂 I'm actually trying to be less forgiving because they happen a lot more now.

I agree. There honestly ought to be a fee to just cancel or at least MEANINGFUL strikes issued after a couple in a 2 year span. I understand thing might happen and cause the true need to cancel. But it's costing sellers either in actual fees or potential sales when all the watchers are lost.
The excuse "my kid ordered it" is the stupidest and most irritating I hear. Apparently parents don't think they are responsible for what Little Johnny or Little Susie do. That or they think lying about their kids is acceptable.
In any event, there should be penalties imposed after the first cancellation. My own self imposed penalty is, I block you because I just don't want to do business with someone who demonstrates themselves to be less then stellar of a buyer. WE are held to very high standards, our buyers should be as well.

No cancellations. After 2 days UPI Assistant takes over. Came to this decision the first time a buyer requested a cancel and afterward left me a neg, Never again.

You are a bit sensitive. One doesn’t have to be a large seller to have a lot of repeat customers. I’m not a large seller - I never pretend to be. I’d assume that large sellers have a smaller percentage of repeat customers - they are selling “commodity” items. I sell in a couple of very specific areas - and a lot of items where trust in grading are very important, and I have a lot of very hard to find items (especially in nice condition). Thus, I have a lot of repeat customers. If you think that repeat buyers are a rarity, that is fine - but I’m happy to have great customers that like to buy from me, again and again.

Depends on the buyer. If they send me a message and apologize or are professional, I will let it go. If I don't hear from them or they are a jerk I block right away. I also block anyone that sends me a ridiculously low offer.

I've really only ever had one "1-hr" cancel ... they got a pass just for being quick about it LOL
Welp ... I spoke too soon LOL
Had an immediate cancel request yesterday ... "cha-ching" ... 2 heartbeats ... "bloop" (the most dreaded sound to sellers)
No message or reason ... but I took a peek at their feedback left for others ... yeah ... definite friend list material there 😉

One time and block them

I block anyone the first time something happens... whether it be non-payment, cancelling, Rude Customer, Negative Feedback... and so on. I don't need to put up with that kind of buyer.
