So I know policy changed and sellers have 2 business days to refund the buyer once tracking shows the item arrived. Does that count weekends?
I ask because I have a return that was scanned in as delivered on Friday 8/3 (I'm not seeing it as I think the mail carrier mistakenly forgot to give it to me. She caught me leaving so I'm guessing she gave me one less package). So the return detail in ebay says "Please ensure that you issue the refund before Aug 07, 2018". Before Aug 7, means 8/6 right? Isn't 8/6 one business day after 8/3? Am I missing the extra business day here somewhere?
They don't really give much time for me to ask my mail carrier for the package, do they?

You have 2 business days. Delivered on Fri 8/3 means refund by Tuesday 8/7. If you don't refund within 48 business hours then eBay may auto-refund. It shouldn't count as a defect since you approved the return and eBay's not stepping in - it's just an automatic system function.
Did your carrier deliver the item today?

Yes it was delivered today, so I ended up refunding the buyer today. According to what you are saying, it seems then that the verbiage in the return details is misleading. It said to issue my refund before August 7, not by 8/7. If you count from 48 business hours, since the item was scanned as delivered on Friday afternoon, the 48 business hours should be up on Tuesday 8/7 afternoon. Sounds like eBay needs to change that to avoid confusion. Thanks

Yes, since ebay did not say on or before Tuesday 8/7 but said before 8/7. It would appear the refund needs to be issued before or on 8/6 ,IMO

I notice there is a discrepancy in the ebay verbiage... so most likely the "issue refund before 8/7" is an error. If you go to the Returns Manager page (where you see all of your returns), you can see a column that says something like "status" or actions needed to be taken. In that column for this return, it said "issue refund by 8/7." But if you click into the return itself, the page said to be sure to "issue refund before 8/7"
Ebay needs to fix this simple wording as they are conflicting with themselves and will confuse people.
I called CS about this and they blew if off and said something like "Oh that's intentional because we want sellers to send refunds before their allowed time as to make the buyer happier so they won't complain." But I argument is, then why not be consistent and change them ALL to say "issue refund before"? Why only do it in one area and not the other... hence causing confusion????
