How long is feedback kept?

It's obvious that feedback is not kept forever, but I can't find anything that says when stuff drops off.  One year? 2 or more?

Feedback is kept forever, but is displayed there in the chart, and %age rating based on 12 months.

Click on that little circled i there after your 99.1% to be given the breakdown info.

No, nothing obvious about it. It's kept for forever or until you close your store. It shows up in that highlighted feedback ratings box for a full year, but it will still be there in your fb history~ just not in your 12 month snapshot.

Reading some of your fb may I make a suggestion? Never use "problem with the address" if there isn't one. If you are out of stock, say that when you cancel sales. Your customer called you out on it and it doesn't look good. Also, those out of stocks are going to accumulate and ebay will count then as defects against you, which will affect your selling status on here. Stay on top of your inventory, know what you have to sell, and avoid those out of stocks in the future. Also, ship your items within your handling time.

Good luck to you!

It looks like your oldest negative feedback was left for a transaction that was sold Oct 27, 2023. So the feedback could have been left up to about 60 days after that. That feedback will stop being included in calculating your feedback score one year after the feedback was left.

Feedback is kept forever.

But as the recap at the top of your feedback page gives you your Feedback count for the last month,

6 months and 12 months and then your feedback percentage uses those numbers to calculate.  Once your feedback reaches 12 months and 1 day old, it should drop off the summary.

Forever. However, it's just the last 12 months is what is used to calculate the percentage.

How long is feedback kept?

I really was not too concerned about the negatives, especially the one blaming me for damage by the carrier.  Most of those anyone interested in reading would not be that concerned about.

The question really is, I just am not seeing a "forever" feedback number.  I'm sure I have had larger numbers in the past and after 26 years I have definitely gotten more than what currently shows.  I guess I just need to do a screenshot every now and then and see how the number changes.

As for the "out of stock" items, many are later found and sent, but we are punished for the delay.

You just need to look around more carefully on the Feedback page.  The info you seek is there.

In the line on your FB page that says:

All received Feedback

Received AS Buyer

Received AS Seller

Left For others

Those four option appear in a single line, highlighted in the pic below.  Just below that line will appear the number of feedback for whichever tab you chose.  It defaults to All Received Feedback.

The info that can be really telling if you are looking at a Buyer's feedback is "left for Others".  That can often tell you if this is a buyer that abuses sellers.

As to your OOS [out of stock] items.  Sellers should be dinged for every time this happens.  It disappoints a buyer and sellers should have a better command of their inventory.  Cancelled orders for seller reasons is one of the highest things that cause distress and distrust in buyers.

Short answer, the percentage is based on your 12 months. @mam98031 gives you a pic of where you can find your "forever" feedback number.

As I said, you should be on top of where your inventory is and ship within your handling time that is stated. Shipping after that time has passed will bring you defects. Ebay doesn't care that you eventually sent them. They care that you didn't live up to your terms in your listing and your customer isn't happy. You have nobody to blame but yourself for that. It is not ebay punishing you. As for the damaged package, you still have to do something to address it, even if it was the carrier that damaged it.A partial refund, etc. Unfortunately, it sounds like you didn't pack them well enough to protect them in your neutrals.  If you were the buyer, what would you do? I just got a damaged item from a seller on Wayfair. Contacted them, they gave me 20% refund, and I'm a happy camper. That's the name of the game - happy buyer.

more than one feedback from the same buyer in a set period of time ( same week or something along those lines) only counts as "1" in that top #.

Multiple issues instances of buyers leaving multiple feedbacks can result in the "total" being different.

At  some time in the past, eBay would remove all feedback a user had left if the user was NARU'd for some reasons within a certain time interval from when they had registered. Or feedback might be removed, for example, if eBay felt they had done things that would now be covered under the abusive buying policy. I lost some feedbacks for that reason, when they put that rule in place. I'm not complaining about that.

So yes, you may have lost a few feedbacks over the years, but it was never very common, and it's not the standard procedure.

It is by Week.  I believe it is Monday through Sunday, but I'm not positive.  So if one item was purchased on Sunday and another on Monday, that counts as 2 transaction.  But if 1 is purchased on Tuesday and one on Wednesday, that is one transaction.

I see that the "all received feedback" number is a little higher than what shows on listing views but still I'm sure it has been way more.

Nope, you did not have more.

The number shown as @mam98031 displayed is the total amount of feedback you have.

2 or more feedback by the same buyer for purchases made within 7 days count as 1 (does not matter day of the week).

That's why that 'total feedback' is higher than the number shown by your ebay id name in parenthesis.
