How long does a response from eBay take after reporting an abusive buyer?

I've reported a buyer for sending abusive emails almost a month ago and I've not heard back yet. I'm wondering if I should be taking additional action, or if this usually takes a bit of time? In the past I've had the window of action close on me and have missed out in leaving feedback, ect. so I'm worried that might happen here. In the list of reasons to have eBay call me back, this is not one of them. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You won't hear anything back.

Are you asking how long it will take for ebay to contact you back after you reported a buyer for harassing you? If that's what you're asking, then sadly I'd think that ebay will never contact you again about it. They will basically just note it in a report and MAYBE contact the buyer about it. That's about it. They wouldn't share with you what actions they took.

eBay doesn’t contact you. You reported the buyer and IF eBay takes action, which is unlikely, they aren’t going to disclose that to you.

Thanks, that is indeed what I was asking. Well, fair enough I guess. What about feedback? I've reported the negative feedback as well, but have heard nothing back and it hasn't been removed. It seems like a clear violation to eBay terms, especially with the abusive emails I received.

Your report does not require ebay to contact you.

Do not continue to be worried.

If the buyer has a long history of doing these sorts of things, something will be done about it.

It takes more than one complaint for ebay to take action.

If it's still there after a couple of days, it's very likely they aren't going to remove it.  If you're trying to get a feedback removed, it's best to get them to do it while you're still on the phone if possible, otherwise they'll likely shine you.

I'm not sure what their internal window would be for no longer removing a feedback.

Often, they'll remove the comment and not the red dot, so you don't really get much out of that one.   The one red dot you've got, I'd probably rather have the comment there with it.

You can reply to the Feedback.  If you do that, remember you're writing it for the uninvolved future buyer who is reading it, not replying to the person who left it.  Responding that they're a "jerk" is not beneficial to you, even if it is true.

I don't remember what the timeframe is for leaving a reply to feedback, but you probably don't want to do that until you've given up on having eBay remove the feedback.

I see nothing in your FB that would be eligible for removal.

Yea I agree with this here. You should reply to any negative feedback you have. It's your ONLY way to counter that when potential buyers see your feedback page. No matter how bad the feedback sounds, make sure your reply is positive, professional, nice, calm, and sometimes even show you are bending over backwards for that buyer. It is your only chance to show buyers how well you can handle a "crisis"

If I'm hearing you correctly you tried to ask for a feedback removal thru ebay's site?? Not sure what you did, but FYI ebay only removes negatives when you call them by phone. And even so, if an agent agrees to remove it... they may not remove it still. It happens to me sometimes too. Sometimes they hide behind the excuse that they already did it and it takes 48 hrs to update. In those cases I ask for their name and ask for the SR# of the phone call. I once convinced an agent to send me an email/ebay message confirming they will remove it. Then if it doesn't get removed in 48 hrs I call again and refer them to the agent I spoke to with the SR#.

It could be extortion...

Yes, if they used "Report Buyer", that isn't likely going to cause eBay to review / remove any feedback, they'll need to call CS.

@bigdeals.etc

Could you return and explain how a feedback saying "pathetic" would be extortion ?

chrysylys wasn't referring to the wording ("pathetic").

The comment was suggesting that it's possible that the buyer could have been trying to extort the seller via messages (give me a refund and let me keep the item or I'll NEG you). Which in this case would be the ONLY reason ebay would remove it.

@itz_stacey

There was no mention of anything about extortion. The buyer was upset with the OP and sent rude emails to them so the OP wanted to report it. It sounded like the OP thought since there was rude messages that it would also qualify for feedback removal but that is not the case.
