How do you create the drop down menu?

For example, I have a book series and some people only want specific books from the series to make up a lot of 10 books (similar to one of my other current listings). If it possible to do that without a store or is it a store only thing?

I see it in the phone section a lot, if I want to buy a phone cable and I can choose my length or color or something from a drop down list and it changes the price accordingly.

I've looked, but I cant seem to find the answer anywhere.

Variation listings can only be used in specific categories like clothing, trading cards, iphones, ipads, and etc.

I don't think books is one of the categories.

It's called a variations listing.

It's on the listing page right after item specifics.  Look for "variations".

It can be a bit daunting the first time you try and set one up.

I picked a few books at random and tried.

It let's me do a variations listing. 

Unless there are certain/specific book categories that wont?
