I understand about proxy bids and all but I've been watching several of my items over the past few weeks, and I see items that show multiple bids sell for minimum bid?
When I go to bid on an item as a buyer, it will only let me bid the next increment bid or higher. I can't bid the same amount, so as I bid, the item price advances.
How does an item get 5 bids and sell for minimum bid?

I have a bidder that bid 28 times in one evening on a coin I have for sale and the amount remained the same. I guess we'll see if he wins or if it drives up the price or scares others away.....learning process here for sure.

It would have to drive up the price, if anybody else bids, since each bid has to be higher than the previous one.
The idea that competitors would be scared off by seeing 28 bids could backfire: They might decide that intense bidding is an indication that the item is really valuable and desirable instead, which would encourage them to bid higher.
