I'm hoping someone can help me understand because I'm very confused. I currently have a paid store with 1,000 listings. My daughter (as a regular person) has 250 free listings. That would suggest that I technically have 1,250... am I understanding that correctly? I sell books and I sell them pretty cheaply (volume) so I can't afford to pay a 30 cent listing fee for anything. Everything I have listed is a BIN, no auctions. Everytime I call eBay help the person is no help in explaining this so I can understand. TIA!

No, you have 1000
and she has 250
These are two different accounts, two different user ID's.
Each is subject to how it's set up.

When you sign up for a Store subscription, you no longer are eligible for the 250 free insertions that non-store sellers get.
If you have a store subscription with 1,000 free fixed-price listings, then apparently you have a Basic subscription. This means that (1) extra insertions cost 25 cents, not 30; and (2) you get 10,000 additional free insertions in "select" categories, including Books. You can see the full list of 'selected" categories here:

Just a FYI. If you sell books and have a store, most if not all should qualify under the 10,000 (zero insertion fee)free listings (basic store, more if bigger store) These would not go against your 1000 listings unless they are listed in the wrong category (category not part of 10,000 free listings)

@edittore
You can find a lot of information here, and keep scrolling down.

In general, it is my understanding that the "no store" allotment can be either auction or BIN, while store subscriptions have different limits/ and or category specific exclusions.
Remember, that all BIN listings renew each month on the calendar day they were originally listed. They count against your available listings, each time they roll over. If you sell something, or end a listing it does not create an "open spot" that you can use again.

There is a running monthly total of available freebies for you on your seller hub under promotional offers. It will clearly show how many you have used and how many remain for the month.

Five kind and wonderful respondents! I learned something from each of you. Many thanks!

It's easy.
You get 250 with no subscription.
You get 1000 with your subscription.
Thus, your subscription gives you 750 more than not having a subscription and the "suggestion" you inferred is not correct.

You aren't considering the 10,000 listings you get in select categories. That is a pretty important part of your store benefits to overlook.
You can use your 'select categories' fixed price listings allocation in the following categories:
It is really easy to see where you are in regards to available free listings in your Seller Hub. There is great information in the Promotion Tile.
