A bidder with no feedback has bid on a set of paperbacks. It's been four days now. How long should they get? I have sent the invoice and later a message.

With a zero feedback user, I would send a reminder invoice at day 3, then on day 5, I would file a non-paying bidder report.

Wait no longer. File an 'Unpaid Item' so you don't get charged the final value fees; once the UI is completed, you can relist.

I wait 48 hours and then open the NPB case in the Resolution Center. I do not send invoices or reminder messages. After all, if they are not going to pay they are not going to answer messages either. After 96 more hours I close the case and get my FVF's back. If they pay before 96 hours, I ship.

I send a first invoice 24 hours after the purchase and send a second invoice 48 hours after sending the first invoice. Then 24 hours after the second invoice I will send a message in effect "payment not received, please advise. If no response I file the UI. So all in all I wait about 5 days before I file.

.....general reply.........
its usually about 4-5 days before I even notice I have not been paid.I send a reminder invoice with no message and wait maybe another 48 hours.Of course if the bidder is a 0 then its right to the NPB notice at 4-5 days
I would never message a buyer,I know that ebay sends reminders and I just do it with another invoice

I generally wait around 5 days and send no messages and definitely no invoices.

You said that he "bid" on the books. If he actually purchased them, then you have waited and communicated enough. Four days, an invoice, and a message is plenty. It's time to file the unpaid item claim.

If I bid on something it's because I want it. If I win I pay that day. Why bid if you don't want it? Andrew

The winning bidder also receives a "You won, pay now" notice from ebay and then again 48 hours later another reminder.
5 reminders in 4 days is plenty. After 4 days I'd be hoping they don't pay and filing the NPB on them.

If I've sent an invoice, and the buyer doesn't respond to a message, I just cancel and indicate that there is something wrong with the buyer address. Seriously, after two days, I'm not waiting for eBay to give the buyer another couple of days to keep my item on hold.

First, stop sending messages. They know they need to pay, and eBay will remind them again.
They get as long as you are willing to give them.
Some sellers here file an unpaid item dispute after two days. I wait four weeks, and haven't had to file one in years.
It's entirely up to you.

Sellers can open an unpaid item case 48 hours after an auction ends without payment. eBay also sends notices that payment is due so your buyer has had plenty of opportunities to reach out and make payment arrangements.

Tagging on. I'be been on ebay over 20 years and still don't understand the thought process involved in hitting that buy it now button, Or winning a bid, and not being ready to pay.
I had a "Buyer" hit one of my listings a while back, A buy it now listing. He asked me to wait 2 weeks. I did and he never did pay.

I have given the winning bidder notice today that He or She has one day to make good on the auction. Then if not , a non paying bidder claim will be put in. Now should I leave the party their first feedback? I am inclined not to. Thank you all for the impute!
