How Do You Get Second E-Mail Address?

I'm considering having another Ebay user name in the future. I heard you need to get another E-mail for  this. Does anyone know where to go to get a second e-mail?

Re: How Do You Get Second E-Mail Address?

It can be confusing if you have a gmail account already and you usually stay signed in, so that when you go to gmail you are typically looking at your inbox.

You may want to use a different mail provider so you can stay signed in to both mail accounts at the same time in the same browser. Or not, if you intend to link the new email to a different eBay account.

If you do want to use the same mail provider, it might be useful to use a second browser -- that way you can stay signed in to one mail/eBay combination in one browser, and use the other browser to stay signed in to the other mail/eBay accounts. Different browsers can help to keep things separate, so you don't accidentally list an item on the wrong account, or wind up buying something with your selling account.

Open a different browser, or a private or incognito browser window. Go to gmail.com or another provider. If you are already signed in to your current email account, sign out. From the sign-in page, use the "Create account" link and follow the prompts from there:

I'm not sure I completely understand what you are saying. I use hotmail to look at all my business e-mails with my current e-mail address.  Will getting a second e-mail in any way cause any issues for me in trying to access those messages from hotmail? Are you saying if I just use a different browser for each e-mail there will be no problems?

Re: How Do You Get Second E-Mail Address?

If you have a Hotmail account, you have a free microsoft email now (outlook.com - microsoft merged Hotmail and Windows Live email(s) quite some time ago)

Go to Google.com - open a free gmail account.  Remember, though - these "free" email accounts are easily hacked.  Set it up with Duo controls (we do all our gmail ones that way) and you can connect the 2 accounts easily on your phone, etc.

Good luck!

@mozartbach1971  No, it will not, and you don't need to use a different browser for each email address.  Each email address is independent of each other.  I have three email addresses with comcast, for instance, and I have to sign into each one separately.  If you WANT to have both email addresses open at the same time, then using a different browser for each one is a handy way to do it, but that's all.

That sounds good.  If I wanted to move most or some of my personal accounts to this second e-mail would that cause any problems. Like I have a Facebook and Meetup account and want to use the second e-mail to access these.  Would it be OK to cancel these accounts on my current e-mail and then open up new ones using this second e-mail without causing any problems?  I think my current Facebook account is linked to my Ebay account as I see items I posted on it.

You can just change to your new email address for the existing accounts - no need to close them.  Any account/app you use, you can decide which of your two email addresses you want to use for them - most of the time you'll simply go to your account preferences for that particular account (say Meetup) and change the email to your new email address there.  They may send you a verification email at your new address to ensure that is the correct email, and you just verify it.

@mozartbach1971

I’d  recommend that you have a sibling/parent/child/friend/coworker help you with this task.
