How Did This Happen?

This an alert to others and a question.

Sold an item on another ID - the listing shows it sold for $20 -

EBAY SALE.JPG

But the SOLD message from Ebay says it sold for only $1 -

EBAY MESSAGE.JPG

I did receive payment and it was for $1 plus shipping which tells me that the buyer did receive an invoice in the amount of $1.

There were no offers made by me or to me on this cookbook, so it wasn't the usual glitch.  The only clue I have is that this account has not had any sales for a while, but I did send out some offers today on 4 other cookbooks ... again NOT on this one.

Has anyone seen a similar situation?  No way is this item going to ship for $1, my only concern is how to cancel without getting a defect.

WOW, that is scary.   Something is wrong.  Either call ebay or send a private message about this to:

www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness

or

Glitch or not, did you go in to review completed offers on this item?

I would probably just send it out. Somehow, somewhere most of these things end up being user error somehow. Every even number sale price I ever had has always been a result of my somehow botching an offer.

The book isn't a fast seller or anything, Terapeak shows 3 sales of that exact same version, 2 for $10 and one from someone who shot for the moon and somehow got $50, a feat that will likely never be repeated.

I wouldn't risk the defect over a $10 book that MIGHT sell sometime in the next year.

Did you send out any offers? If you sent out an offer, and they accepted it, it will show your list price, not the price it actually sold for. (When you have best offer enabled your price is crossed out and it notes BO accepted).

I can go to many of my sold listings that were sold based on offers I sent and see what I listed it at.

If you sent out an offer, you probably got caught by the glitch where a key you entered wasn't registered and it sent the offer out for $1. I have had this happen at least twice before.

There haven't been any offers on this item, so that's not the source of the error.

I'm sorry, but that item DID sell to an offer.  That is shown in the Purchase History page for that listing; it says "Offer status: accepted". If you view this with the seller's user ID, you will see the buyer's ID on this page:

I'd just ship it. I once drove all the way across town to buy a $3 dollar trading card at the card store to fulfill an order rather than getting a defect for cancelling the order. For a slow moving $10 book that I probably had less than $1 in I would just ship it.
