Historically Sensitive Pictures

So I listed a very old Historically significant photo for sale that is of a very sensitive subject. About 2 hours after I posted it was removed for being offensive. While I do agree it is a sensitive subject, I also believe I'm being unfairly singled out.  There are literally hundreds of pictures of the same subject and some are Extremely Graphic in nature. They just get to stay up without issue?  No it's not porn or anything like that, just an old picture of fully clothed people. I would appeal the removal if I was able to do so but there is nothing on my notification that says I can do that.  Not a big deal but it just seems odd that my picture is not allowed to exist on this platform.

Re: Historically Sensitive Pictures

You probably got caught by the EBAY bots (who knows what triggered it).   Anyway, don't try to relist because EBAY may terminate your account.

I don't plan on relisting.  Just seemed odd that's all.

Re: Historically Sensitive Pictures

I'd say eBay doesn't want anything controversial or could cause harm to their image being listed IMHO.

Re: Historically Sensitive Pictures

If it's what I think it is, it wasn't a bot that removed it. It was more likely a buyer represented by the photos, or a competing seller taking advantage of the flagging feature. Someone probably canceled you.

Interesting that you intentionally didn't describe even in general terms exactly what you were trying to sell. Which Offensive Item policy did you violate?

For the two hours it was listed somebody else thought they were unfairly singled out because their similar object was pulled yesterday.....tomorrow the cycle will repeat again.

I am constantly amazed at the posters who, when randomly snagged by a bot, are absolutely positively convinced that they personally and specifically have been deliberately singled out for suppression.

Out of the millions upon millions of user on eBay you honestly think that you are such an important target that they actually took the time to single you out? Is is nothing more than the (bad) luck of the draw.

Yea I know huh. As I was reading the OP, I was thinking… hey why not just upload the photo here then so we know what you’re dealing with.

Re: Historically Sensitive Pictures

If you consider the photo to be "of a very sensitive subject" then why are you surprised that Ebay removed it?  We live in a new age of "Year Zero" where uncomfortable history has become taboo.

Re: Historically Sensitive Pictures

You are not being singled out. You knew when you listed the sensitive item that it was not going to be allowed. If you did not know, you do now.

eBay has 1.5 billion listings. Their policy enforcement has never been comprehensive, timely, or accurate.

I also believe I'm being unfairly singled out

You may have been "singled out" in the sense that any user can report any listing on eBay for being offensive.

Not a big deal but it just seems odd that my picture is not allowed to exist on this platform.

You have never directly addressed this issue - Did your listing violate the offensive materials policy?

Re: Historically Sensitive Pictures

Usually its a key word in the Description that the bots pick up on.

Re: Historically Sensitive Pictures

Seems to me that this photo must have had a racial theme. Just guessing.
