Hello eBay Community,
I recently received an email stating that my account has been temporarily restricted from selling and buying. The email stated that I would need to contact eBay to verify my account, and that my account would be reactivated after the verification process. The email also stated that there would be a few questions asked for verification.
While the initial email suggested that I could reactivate my account after completing the verification process, when I contacted eBay customer support, the response I received was that this restriction could not be lifted. The support team stated that they had restricted my account "as part of their secure marketplace policy" and that the restriction could not be lifted.
In this case, I am confused about what steps I should take due to the conflicting information I have been given. This difference between the initial email and the support team's response makes it difficult to understand what I can do to get my account back.
I am looking for support from those who have had similar experiences or have suggestions. If anyone has successfully resolved the restriction process, can you share what steps they followed?
Thank you.

As others noted there are various reasons eBay permanently restricts seller accounts. One of the first places you can look is at your seller metrics which none of us can see. I am assuming this is a posting ID since I see no items listed or sold. On your seller hub all of the following should be 0 except for tracking uploaded on time and validated which of course should be 100%.
One of the other common reasons accounts are suspended is for violating the drop shipping policy which seems to be a common issue with international sellers in some regions.
While your country should not make a difference it does. EBay has a different set of seller evaluation criteria for foreign sellers than they do for US sellers defined as Bad Buyer Experience (BBE).
Unfortunately eBay will never tell you exactly why your account was suspended for security reasons but generally they provide you some generic reason for the suspension. The "part of their secure marketplace policy" may be all the information you ever receive from them.

Your account could have been identified as related to another account that was permanently banned. Could be name, address, IP address etc.
If the note from eBay mentioned permanent, that is what it is, permanent. Same as "restriction could not be lifted"
We have not heard of these types of restricted accounts being reinstated. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

You are based in Turkey.
What do you think caused eBay to take this action against your account?

My country or geography should not play a role in decisions made regarding eBay's stated security policies. The reasons for my account restriction should be addressed more transparently and objectively. If an account restriction was imposed due to specific rules or violations, I believe this should be explained in detail and country-neutrally.

"It is my understanding that eBay evaluates some accounts as being associated with previously banned or restricted accounts under their security policies. However, I have not received any specific information or details that my account may have been associated with another banned account. I have indicated to eBay that I am prepared to provide all verification information, as account security and transparency are also my top priorities. I am prepared to provide all information I can for re-evaluation. Thank you for your assistance."

You're not answering the question:
What do you think caused eBay to take this action against your account?
The fact is that people from around the world come to these US forums to complain that eBay closed their account for no reason.
But we all know that there is a reason. So do you.
If you want transparency and objectivity, let's start there.

Thanks for your question, but I am here to ask a question regarding a verification (restriction email not suspend) I received from eBay. I see in your comments that you are looking for a reason by implying that I am in Turkey, whereas this email was sent for security verification regarding my account. The person who should question the reason for this process should be the eBay team, not me or you. It is not fair and correct to portray my country as an issue regarding my account security on eBay. I hope eBay provides a clearer and fairer process.

Thank you, it is valuable to see different perspectives to make sense of this situation. However, it is very disappointing that a large platform like eBay is closing accounts without providing a clear reason and based solely on a general reason such as 'security'. As you stated, even though I am a new account, being suspended solely on security policy grounds without any reason such as fraud, threats, selling counterfeit goods or violating the rules is quite meaningless. This process, especially when I am called for verification and then ends with 'your account cannot be opened', is extremely confusing and upsetting.

You should post with your selling id, maybe then you could get some help.

Thank you, but I think that discussions on this platform should provide an environment where members can help with questions about their selling accounts. Seeking support without revealing their identity is important to protect privacy. At this point, I think we have the right to expect eBay to provide transparent and solution-oriented support.

Without seeing your selling account, its impossible for anyone to guess why you were restricted. Im not sure what 'protecting your privacy' has to do with that.Without it, this is all just a guessing game. Obviously, since Ebay wanted to verify your identification, and then you were still restricted, you had some account problems.

I understand, but the issue here is not the details of my selling account, but the fact that eBay requested verification at the beginning of the process and then completely restricted the account without stating any problems. My goal in protecting privacy is only to ensure that my personal information is not shared unnecessarily. This vague and contradictory approach actually makes it difficult for users who request support to find a solution. When eBay chooses to close an account without providing a clear explanation, it causes a loss of trust for us as users.

Without knowing much about the account that was suspended, it's hard to say what happened.
