Heads Up! -- Items selling for amounts other than listed.

Just had an item sell for $229.49, when listed at $637.49.  No offers, no communication, just sold for the wrong price.  Called eBay, and apparently it's a known issue!?!?!  So heads up everybody.  Make sure you're double checking all of your sales.  CSR was very helpful, and of course the transaction got cancelled.  Just wanted to make sure this issue was a bit more public!

@jklfindings

Make sure that your site is not auto enrolled in this feature:

Ebay was nice enough to do that for us.  Where it states "see all options" on the right, slide the one's you don't want to use to the left.  Same with your shipping preferences, especially if you don't ship internationally.

Happy Selling.

We're not 😃  It wasn't a listing issue.

@jklfindings

Good to know.  People here have complained about that feature several times.  High dollar items going for ridiculously low prices. 🙄

Have a great day!

Heads Up! -- Items selling for amounts other than listed.

In order to make the sale, somebody had to buy it.

So someone bought it (buy it now) for $637.49 but the sale went through for $229.49?

Very odd. I've never heard that one before.

Thanks for the heads up.

Or on the buyers end they saw the listing as $229.49.  CSR was baffled too at first.

separate to what poster experiences

which is serious technical glitch

i have long-standing preset no offers under selling preferences.

Yet when i list on mobile  app vs laptop the system default is set to make offers which,  coupled with supposed comps being way off , or happens more frequently if i am either revising a listing and it changes without me realizing or especially when i relist if i had to end due to travel or other.

it's  very annoying and a dangerous hijack to have as it doesn't honor sellers presets or history / memory like old classic view. i used to think it was an error but now feel is intentional.

Sadly, both seller and Ebay lose significantly just in an effort to move things along , treating fixed price as if an auction and it's very misguided in the antiques and collectibles market as it screws up the market, devalues items and becomes a free for all  confusing buyers treating it like overstocked clothing on sale /clearance or like nothing has legitimate value.

I've experienced this three times now.

1. $9999.00 item sold for $199.00.

2. $1500 item sold for $150.

3. Same situation but in the $100 range.

Both ebay, and the buyers were helpful in all three cases, simply a cancellation and no risk of negative feedback (all 3 had paid), it turned out that an ebay anomaly had increased the promotional discount structure.

That's what I was thinking might have happened to the op, but he says no.

It's actually showing as sold for the right amount, so it must have an offer that was accepted.

It is not an known issue, they agreed with you to to get you off the phone. Make sure for now on all your boxes are checked and DOUBLE check your prices. Ebay does not change prices.

But you did have it listed with OBO.

When you relisted it did it have any auto accept amount for the BO?

CSR read it straight off their report with technical jargon.  I suppose he could have made it up on the spot, but doubtful.  It wasn't one of the overseas CSRs, so none of the usual script reading mess.  No one is saying eBay changed a price.  It seems to be a tech glitch.

OPs seem to get upset with me when ever I say "There's no way that could have happened" so I wont say it.

It must have been a ebay glitch.
