I have a listing that is the same as an item another seller has listed. They are sending me harassing messages because my listing has a lower start price and they claim that I am causing the value of their item to be low. I have found no way to report this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Block communications
account>site preferences>buyer requirements, edit>scroll down>check off "don't allow blocked buyers to contact me". Be sure to submit.

THIS is a great reply with comprehensive path explanation to get to the two places to block purchases and communication. Here I forgot that from early on I checked the box in site prefs to block communication which you only have to do once ... from there it is just adding to the BBL.

Yes, great response.
Oh, so you were already covered? Great.

If they have bought something from you recently, the communication block won't work. But it should sometime down the road.
A lot of people tend to think that putting someone on the BBl blocks communication, too, but it does not.
Actually I checked my site prefs and I already had the checked box for blocking communication, did that early on so that adding members to the BBL is all I have to do. @southern*sweet*tea 's post was great because it included both BBL and the Site Pref setting ... that's great support.

Absolutely true, and I'm glad to know that you already had that covered. I should have known you would!
Just trying to help.

I think that this topic deserved a better answer. We are not talking about buyer to seller "unwanted" communication but peer to peer misuse of Ebay rules.
By blocking a buyer/seller that is bugging you, you are not doing anything to prevent future abuse of eBay's rules.
One of the foundations of the eBay experience is the level of trust between all members of the eBay community. To maintain that trust, we expect all members to treat each other with respect.
Our policies around member behavior are in place to protect everyone in our community, and ensure that buying and selling on eBay is an enjoyable experience for all. For more details, please see the individual policy guidelines below.

YES you can Block someone, Just go to my ebay, account, site preferences, selling preferences, buyer requirements, edit, then scroll down and select the box that says "Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me. (Buyer will not see the "Contact Seller" button on your Q&A page.)
I also did a Google search for this question and found the same answer in a community post from 2011, but I didn't post it because I wasn't sure if the part about the contact seller button not appearing on the Q&A page was still accurate.
And I wasn't sure about the seller's feedback page and profile page. Does the contact seller button disappear from those pages, too?

You could explain to the harasser that you live in a country that embraces capitalism and this is the way it is HERE . As far as reporting him to e bay ,, a quick phone call might do the trick. Tulips

No, it does not. That post from 8 years ago has some information that's no longer relevant. I tested blocked communications by blocking my posting ID on my selling account. The contact seller button remains active on the listing, Q&A, feedback and profile pages.
The blocked ID can click contact seller, fill out the message box and click submit. Their message will not go through. Instead they see the notice that says, "We're sorry we couldn't find an answer for you. Unfortunately this seller is not able to respond to your question. We suggest reviewing the item again......." It's the same message you see if a seller has messages turned off to all users.

Are they harassing or threatening? eBay probably won't do anything about nuisance messages aside from telling you to BBL, though you should still call to report them. If several members make the same complaint about this guy eBay is more likely to take notice.
Under the member to member contact policy eBay will take action if the other member is making threats. https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behaviour-policies/membertomember-contact-policy?id=4262

I have seen several questions about how to stop harassing messages from other eBay users. I had received several such messages from total idiots. My suggestion is: First add the message writer to your "BLOCKED BIDDER LIST". Then, Go to "MY ACCOUNT". Click on "ACCOUNT PREFERANCES" tab. Scroll down to "BUYER REQUIREMENTS"-"BLOCK BUYES WHO". On right side click "EDIT". That takes you to a page titled "EBAY REQUIREMENTS". Scroll to the bottom, "Don't allow blocked buyers to contact me".
Put an "X" in that box and hit "SUBMIT"
