Had a case opened...

So i got a case opened that buyer didn't recognize the purchase. I told ebay and they said challenge it. So i did. Well I contacted the buyer who left positive feedback and bought previously. He said Im sorry but I have no idea what you mean because I never opened any type of case. It was only in my messages not on seller hub. I sent him the info from my messages and we both are confused. Of course ebay reps can't or won't help and buyer and I are confused. Has anyone ever heard of this? Since I am not getting any help from ebay.

I am currently speaking to ebay agent for 3 rd time as I am writing this. I am on hold as usual.

@1deal.doctor:

   Sorry to have to mention this, but contacting eBay by phone is a joke.

   You have just experienced contacting an eBay "CSR" who will end up telling you anything just to get you off the phone. I recommend that you connect with a real eBay employee who has the authority to actually help you. To do this, go to eBay For Business on Facebook. Do not simply post there, but send a private MESSAGE to get things rolling.

   Other seasoned sellers here will hopefully chime in on this thread with further helpful comments.

Cheers, Duffy

all you should have to do is to respond with the tracking # (the one eBay already has)

you should be covered with no further action required on your part.

you should be covered by eBay seller protection as long as you shipped to the address provided, and there is proof of delivery.

CCC will often find in favor of the buyer, but eBay should eat any fees, and refunds.

It could take 1-2 months to be "resolved" by the CCC

That's assuming the first CSR who told them to "challenge" the dispute instructed them to include the tracking number in the challenge reply.  If not, the credit card will side with the buyer and eBay will just automatically snatch the money from the seller's funds.

It's possible that a buyer who queries a different transaction, not even one on eBay, will ending up triggering challenges from his card provider for all the transactions within that time period: a day, a week, even a month.

My Discover card was compromised many years ago and they were offering to dispute the whole current month for me, except that I was able to identify all the other purchases that had occurred, leaving just one to be reversed. Maybe your buyer was filing a dispute on something else and his provider decided to widen the scope.

Absolutely THIS^ @1deal.doctor .  I almost guarantee it, and I can't believe I didn't think of it right away, because it happened to me (as a seller) just a few months ago.  The buyer had no idea what was going on at first either, then after calling her bank found out it was because she had filed a dispute for (other ) charges she saw on her card that she didn't recognize.    Luckily for me it happened just hours after this sale so all I had to do was agree to the refund.  I didn't have to worry about the item as I had not shipped it yet.

@1deal.doctor  I don't know if the first agent you spoke with gave you the correct advise on exactly HOW to challenge the payment dispute, so that's a whole other issue (guess you will find out). But if you just want to know what the heck happened, write to your buyer one more time, ask if they recently filed a dispute for any other charge to their card, around the time they ordered from you.
