After 23+ years I'm cancelling my account. In 2000 they used to be a reasonable and intelligent company and they have devolved into a mindless corporation that can't even fix its own issues. Last straw: they made an error in my listing I had to cancel the order (or lose money) and they still allowed a "buyer" to leave negative feedback. You know what eBay? I had 23+ years of 100% positive feedback never a single negative until you created a problem and refused to accept responsibility for it. So that was my 1st negative and my last sale. Good Bye and I will never look back...

There is always an option for a FLAT RATE, you can decide how much you are willing to send it for and put for instance 5.00 in as a flat rate. I use it often on all shipping, lightweight Priority I use 9.00 flat rate. This was definitely not eBay's fault.

@insights_inc wrote:Thanks for commenting. Yes eBay mistakenly offered as a default "flat rate" for my choice of media mail. There is no "flat rate" for media mail it is only rated as you mentioned $5.38 now , eBay should remove the flat rate option since it does not exist. This was not how it was the last time I shipped media mail 5+ years ago no "flat rate" option so I was taken unawares. eBay said it was my error. No sorry it's yours and they could not fix it so the buyer paid the correct amount. So yes it was ebay error.
Media Mail is perhaps the last USPS service that does not have Zone Pricing, Flat Rate is totally appropriate for Media Mail because you know in advance the exact cost to ship to any buyer within the US (I use Flat Rate for Media Mail). YOU are the one who set the Flat Rate at $2.99 not eBay.

After 23 years of selling on eBay, had you made enough profit to cover the $2.39?
Maybe they didn't make enough profit to cover $2.39.
In which case it might be a good time to leave.

The only error was that you chose to ignore the Calculate Rate option, and chose to use flat rate (and typed an amount) without knowing what the actual rate was.
A second error was to reprimand the buyer with a false Positive for something he was not remotely responsible for:
'I was on eBay 23+ years and this is the one buyer I cannot recommend'

I wouldn't have come on here posting that for the world. It was even embarrassing to read.

You would think after 23 years, they would know that you can't leave feedback like that for a buyer.
Buyer should report it.

So your going to throw away all those years on eBay over one negative? Your account is still active and you still can sell on here. Why not just let it go and move on and keep selling? You may have lost the eBay spirit but you still can sell items on here.

Also, 23 years and only 753 feedbacks??? Really????
