Looks as if a mobile phone is necessary, so I'm SOL.

Sorry, eBay.

Remember back in the early days when eBay would give credit or send you stuff for helping on the boards. I still have my red eBay beanie bear.

Ahh them good old days:

Way back when they started such: credits, and of course the ebay pen and a paper to put on the wall...

Good times....

One year around Christmastime they mailed a bunch of us gift cards (I think mine was $35, something like that) with a note of appreciation. Them thar days appear to be over. 🙄

Re: Getting paid to help: Be an eBay espert

Once upon a time I got a "genuine certificate" from eBay for earning a certain level of feedback.  Back when feedback meant something.   Later, I got a printable certificate suitable for framing if I used my own paper and way too much ink.  Now... all I ever get is another swift kick.  Never did get any of the eBay branded goodies.

What's up with limitless, we get an invitation, then applying at the link in ebay messages email to apply., we get an error (tried multiple sites??!!) Happen to us as well, also we find no app in iphone app store -- also when trying to find their website it gives a big security warning, scammer trying to get your info?

Re: Getting paid to help: Be an eBay espert

Don't like the 1099-R that eBay is required to send to you when you sell more than $600.00?

If eBay pays you to post expert advice, eBay may be required to send you a 1099-NEC (non-employee compensation).

Or maybe "Limitless" will be the entity that pays.  In that case, Limitless will be sending you a 1099-NEC form.   And if Limitless pays you, Limitless will need your Social Security Number (so that they can report to the IRS the amount of  money they pay you).   Limitless will need your mailing address and/or your bank info -- if you want them to "direct deposit" your pay.

This may cause a lot of people to think twice about getting paid for posting expert advice and answers.

Okay, the problem link is actually limitlessonboarding, basically the "onboarding" signup page for Limitless, which someone seems to have coded (in the invitation) as http:// instead of https://, thus missing the Secure Socket Layer connection, and setting off alarm bells in browsers that do not automatically redirect an insecure connection to a secure one.

So,

https://www.limitlessonboarding.com/onboard/ebay-uk/apply-now

...will get you to an invitation page to sign up for the eBay UK program. I tried guessing some other links at random, but only found the generic signup page at https://www.limitlessonboarding.com/ which offers to put you on some kind of waiting list.

I see wording on the signup page about "using your eBay seller experience to provide advice and coaching to help other sellers become successful," although Limitless themselves, in the wording on their own page, make it sound more like a focus group outfit, such as "Be the first to hear about our latest projects by signing up to our newsletter."

(I should add here that I don't mean to make focus groups sound like a bad thing. I've done many of them over many years with several focus-group outfits, and you invariably walk out with cash in your pocket for maybe 1-2 hours of your time.)

There are some testimonials elsewhere on their website from gig experts who work via Limitless for other major companies, so if it's on the up-and-up, you might make a bit of income helping to troubleshoot for eBay UK.

This isn't new - something was going around about this ages ago but I have no idea what happened with it.

Here's the link to a previous discussion from when this first rolled out back in February 2021.

Interesting they are looking for a fresh round of recruits now. 🤔

@american_rc

Same here.  Tried to apply, but was told to contact Limitless when it didn't go through.  No contact info was given.  Maybe the system was just down at the time?

I'm more curious than anything.  Wondering if anyone on here is doing it and can share their thoughts.

@donsdetour

I've seen it mentioned on the Mentor's Board.  I don't know much about it, but I believe it's an extension of the Mentor's Program.
