Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

So a buyer messaged me asking me to send them an offer since ethey couldn't (red flag that I usually pay atttention to). I sent the offer and a few minutes later the buyer messages me with some **bleep** saying that their money is in another bank account or something and the holiday is coming up so they can't pay yet and don't know when their payment will be made (blah, blah, blah) and could I wait (with no specified time period that I would be getting paid).

I then checked Buyer Requirements Activity Log and see a buyer that matches their feedback amount that tried to send an offer on that same item but was blocked because of too many unpaid item strikes. I see what's going on and I didn't wanna play games with this buyer so I told them I didn't want to wait some unspecified amount of time to see when (if) they could pay so I declined and the buyer got angry. I then cancelled the order and relisted the item exacly how it was (same price; this can be checked). I knew fully well what the consequences of this could be but I'm just sick of bad buyers giving me the run-around and me having to wait forever due to eBay's policies to relist items that were never going to be paid for (happens way too often).

The buyer then leaves me negative feedback, which I expected, and I couldn't get it removed (which I also expected). However, after replying to the feedback to tell my side of the story, the buyer then replies, continuing to accuse me of lying about multiple things and calling me bigot for no reason. I think this is completely unacceptable and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to get that baseless comment removed and if so, then how would I go about doing that? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Most people will post you should have just waited the 4 days and cancelled for non-payment. That's why eBay won't remove your negative feedback, buyers have 4 days to pay and you cancelled after one day.

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

To reiterate, I was aware of that and I came to terms with that immediately because I know eBay is. My question is about the follow-up from the buyer calling me a bigot which is baseless and unnecessary. Are you saying that because the feedback won't be removed, then the buyer can say whatever they want in a follow-up?

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

Ebay should remove abusive comments like the follow-up your seller left.  Call CS or better yet go to the Ebay for Business FB page.

In the future I would suggest not interacting at all with the buyer just wait the minimum time and cancel for non payment.

You can try to have it removed for the name calling. I'm not sure what threshold they have for what's allowed versus what is legitimately buyer opinion.

A buyer told me once in FB that I "delivered poo" and even writing "poo" was against rules, even though he didn't use a swear word.

I would try eBay on FB and explain the situation to an agent. They can at least review emails between you and the buyer to see if you were justified in cancelling for non-payment (I expect not, but at least on FB if you get a human response they can review correspondence).

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

It wasn't an auction...so the negative feedback is incorrect.

And using the word "bigotry" is probably not allowed.

You might have to make several calls to CS for help.

The "bigotry" word is not often used and I would suggest getting the meaning from a dictionary to the person who answers the phone(s)call(s)....I would think most in the Philippines (CS) have never heard that word before.

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

Why didn't you just cancel it in 4 days?

Unforced error.

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

This sounds good but would I need an FB account to do that? I've literally never used FB.

Takes all of 2 minutes to open a FB account; I did and use it ONLY for this reason (not that it would matter in this case, the most they will do it remove that 1 word- the neg will still be there)

Also- don't EVER respond, buyer gets the 'last say' and it only makes that Neg stick WAY OUT because it is LARGE and goes on forever.

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

Yeah, most of the feedback is actually incorrect and of course the buyer leaves out the angry response they sent me in all caps when they didn't like my response to them. It's also crazy to accuse me of bigotry when I know literally nothing about this person

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

I thought you could only leave feedback if you PAID for the item??

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

I'll get on that then. As far as the negatives, I've been on eBay for 15 years and I think I've had 4 negatives in that time and was only successful in getting 1 removed so I pretty much know how that goes.  I've literally been denied a negative removal after a buyer opened a return case where I was deemed not at fault.

The negative is definitely pretty lengthy now and I think it's kinda wild that a buyer can make multiple comments while I'm limited to one, but I've been on eBay long enough to know that it heavily caters to buyers so it is what it is.

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

Yeah I still get confused about how that all works but I'm guessing it had something to do with me canceling the order.

Re: Getting Buyer Follow-up Removed

I had to open a FB account for an ebay issue and it went very well, that account is still there if I need it again. Be sure to turn off all notifications in FB though or you WILL get spammed big time. It is social media after all. You could also use an alternate email.

The reps there are pros and helped fix my problem fast (also a feedback issue, someone left me a very positive negative).
