For me it started just a few minutes ago.
"To help sell my item"
Terrible idea, policy, etc.
What does one do if after 1 month instead a fixed price listing they wanted to use an auction listing for an item?

Just started for me too . Called customer service again and voiced my strong disapproval . The person I spoke with said she has received many complaints . I expressed an opinion that I did not want a fur coat automatically relisted in July . I have 600 listings that are unsold that get relisted each 90 days . We do not need eBay telling us when we can relist our items . If this continues I will need to find another selling site too !

Great idea! I do like to purchase a buy it now item, instead of an auction. With more sellers now needing to list auctions so they don't get hit with the GTC I won't be buying anything anyway!

They will now automatically relist auctions too?? I was going to switch to auction instead of fixed price listings but if they automatically relist & we get charged each time, no thank you Ebay!

I say we all just list on the 1st of each month and cancel all of them on the 28th of each month or there about to stay under 30 days. This way there are no listings for 3 or so days depending on how many days in that month.
As a person who manages 300 listings and pays for a basic store, I do not need more fees. I say bump our freebee listings up to 500 on basic stores and so on for the other store models and I probably will be content to hang around a little longer.

I absolutely hate this, I do not want any of my listing to auto renew, sometimes I change the listings to revamp, or I might add more to the listing and tweek it. This is really E-bay being E-bay, always making it harder to sell on Ebay. I know I have been looking at other venues to sell on. I have had some success selling for FREE on Facebook marketplace, looking into selling on Amazon. Sometimes I think Ebay does this to run off the smaller sellers. I just will watch my listings and end them before they relist, which means buyers may not be able to purchase in the last hour or so because the items will be removed to avoid GTC, that way I have the choice if I want them to relist. Ebay has forgotten that without sellers there would be NO Ebay. Perhaps they will take notice once there sales fall, and oh by the way latest news shows we are entering a recession, so sales will be falling off from that as well. Time to make some decisions about my choices as to where I want to spend my time selling on line, maybe Ruby Lane, or any number of other venues. Ebay is not the only game in town, try other venues, Etsy, just do a google search check out what your options are. Don't be afraid to try something new, you might surprise yourself.

Excellent suggestions but I doubt that Ebay will read or even listen, the people in their Ivory Towers are all about the money. I am shocked that they get by with charging a fee on postage, now this. They will lose more in the end, because sellers will end their listings early to avoid auto relist. Ebay this is one of the worst decisions you have made yet, very greedy. We the sellers should have a say so as to how long we want to sell our items for, this should not be something you force on us. Without sellers you wouldnt have a job.
