GTC---Why have a store ???

1---OK so I have a Premium store where I get 1000 Fixed priced listings monthly but I only have 350 items---so when I list or relist all 350 items I will not get to use the other 650 BIN listings because my listings will run into the next month & if all BIN listings are automatically relisted & I am charged for them---I REPEAT ---WHY HAVE A STORE ???

2---Nobody ever talks about what I call---THE CHURN---which to me means when you have something listed at 7 days then each day it comes closer & closer to the front of the listings----with everybody at 30 days all of my listings will be a couple of thousand pages back at all times---a lot of people search for something & they browse  2 to 3 maybe 5 pages tops & a small percentage may browse as many as 10 pages--- but with this new system we will all be lucky to be in the first 1000 pages the majority of the time.

3---Auction died for the majority of us a long time ago because this 2019 society has ADD & cannot wait for a dial tone let alone several days for an auction to end. People want things RIGHT NOW & ONLY RIGHT NOW.

So to me I say again---WHY HAVE A STORE???---Ebay just made them extinct.

4---And last but not least I have Handmade Sterling Silver Poison Rings & Lockets up that I sell at shows & conventions on the weekend for $60. to $75.---as an experiment I lowered them to $39.99 & NO SALES---Then I lowered them to $29.99 to prove a point to my daughter---NO SALES---just one customer who obviously knows his stuff has bought around 65 pieces & is thrilled to death---My point to all this yapping is that Ebay has become this low end swap meet where everyone wants everything for nothing & even a $30. price point is too much for this crowd---So for the last time---WHY HAVE A STORE???----between Ebays constantly changing Stupid policies & the BOTTOM FEEDER crowd that comes here to shop---WHATS THE POINT???

Re: GTC---Why have a store ???

I agree! I need to rotate my items and if I am forced to good til cancelled, then I can no longer afford to have a store, or sell. I will be charged way too much in fees to make it worth while. Now I have all this inventory and investment in making listings that I can't relist. I guess this also means there will no longer be offers of Free listing! The worst part is, when you look up how to sell, it...as of a few minutes ago, still states you can choose all the other durations!!! I can't believe I am going to lost ALL the work I put into creating listings! My items do not sell that quickly and I also have seasonal items....I don't need to sell Christmas Items in April if I don't have enough listing left without added charge. I can't believe this! The least they could do is up our allowable listings for the same cost, then at least it is fair. I am so saddened

Let's say you unsubscribe to your premium store.  Now you get 50 free insertions.  Are you still going to want to list 350 items?  Therefore you will be paying 300 X .35 = $105.00  I believe a premium store, even month to month cost less than $105.00

So all 350 items relist/roll over the following month.  You still have 650 more to list.  Let's say the following month you add 100 new items.  Now with the next roll over you have 450 items.  It's still less than the 1000 that comes with your premium store.

Re: GTC---Why have a store ???

2.)  tyler@ebay told us on the eBay Canada site that while a re-listing GTC listing will not get the Newly Listed bump, it will still get the About to Close bump.

Every Fixed Price seller will be in the same position as every other, and not everybody can be on page 1000 (or page one, of course).

EBay's contention is that if your item doesn't sell before that first relist (in which case Woot!) GTC will make is easier for our items to be found by search engines- meaning Google which eBay annoyed a few years back.  Which in turn means that someone searching the interwebs randomly for a Grommet Winkle USED Size13.4 pink/fuschia will find your Grommet Winkle USED Size13.4 pink/fuschia  even though they may never have heard of eBay before.

If you have mass market products in multiples, GTC listings will still get the bump from each sale because that is a Cassini criterion.

3.) I say again---WHY HAVE A STORE?

Vacation mode.

Lower listing fees.

Store categories.

Lower selling fees.

And once again, if you want to maximize your store subscription fees, you have both Fixed Price/GTC listings and Auction listings available at those reduced fees.

And if you have an imagination and are organized, you can list, at no extra cost, items on both eBaydotCOM and eBaydotCA.  There are quirks to selling on a foreign site, but Canada is written in English and while the loonie is only about 75c US, you're still dealing in decimal currency and 'normal' currency names and symbols ($ not £  or € ). You also have to use flat rate shipping.

There is no difference in availability of items in Stores at GTC or at 30 days, or 10 days. This point confuses me, and I guess you too.

4.) If you are the jeweller who is hand making those poison rings, you are losing money on every one you sell even at $80.

To my eye there are many hours of work in each one.  The minimum wage here in BC is 18 cents a minute, and $80  would be about six hours work, not counting materials and your eBay and Paypal fees.

If they are being made overseas, you should say so, rather than implying that you are the maker.

Re: GTC---Why have a store ???

With ALL due respect---you missed my point COMPLETELY---If I cannot do what I want to do namely what I opened this particular level of store that I am paying for---WHATS THE POINT. I f I close this store because of this policy I WILL NOT be listing the 50 free listings or any other listings here on Ebay---I have NO INTENTIONS of working my inventory higher because my funds are limited & besides if the buyers cannot find something suitable among 350 items then simply adding more items is a waste of time---I have been frustrated & disgusted with this site for a long time & this is most likely the last straw---IT JUST IS NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE

Re: GTC---Why have a store ???

Back in the day I had a store, not one antiquity sold, dropped it and then....sales.Since then I've always been leery of stores.I get my 50 free ....so far.Of course I started in 2003 when there was no free, sold all sorts of stuff, but it was FUN back then.

So I'm doing auctions again, sold a lovely mummy mask, but I don't think they are going to pay. She's beautiful though, wasn't thrilled to sell her at that price anyway. She'll go back on at a higher cost.

Anyway ,I digress, we'll see what happens with auctions again..... I guess.

Re: GTC---Why have a store ???

I think it is good to have store even all listings are GTC. Your buyers can look at your store and find many other items. If the buyer looks at your store then he can buy something from you and not from other seller. Also it is easy for buyer to find item using your categories in your store.

"--My point to all this yapping is that Ebay has become this low end swap meet where everyone wants everything for nothing & even a $30. price point is too much for this crowd"

and sellers need a 30 dollar price point here to make any money at all.
