Norwegian buyer purchased Region 1 DVD through GSP and claims the listing description said it would work. He really needed a Region 2 but wants his money back. What can I do?

You offer free returns. What is your international return policy? If it is free returns as well, then you must accept it for any reason.

Uff da! You haven't really sold anything priced high enough to pay return shipping. Since you can't argue with stupid just refund and move on as it just ain't worth the aggravation.

Thanks for your response. No I don't accept international returns. The listing description is accurate and clearly stated that it was a Region 1 DVD but apparently the way it was worded on the Norwegian site led the buyer to believe that it would work. This is a translation of how he said it was worded in the listing description: "Filmland Norway Region code Region 1". In a way I can understand how this may confuse the buyer.

Just noticed your disclaimer in the description stating free returns are granted only under certain circumstances. That is not enforceable. If you offer free returns on a listing, that means that item can be returned for any reason, or no reason. You cannot qualify it except when an item is returned altered from its original condition. Then a discounted refund can be granted, depending on policy.
Below is a link to eBay’s policy pages.
”If the buyer is sending an item back because it doesn’t match the listing description or it arrived damaged or faulty, you’re responsible for the cost of return shipping, even if you don’t offer returns.
If they simply changed their mind or ordered the wrong item, who pays for return shipping is determined by your return policy. If you stated you offer free returns, you have to pay; otherwise, you can ask the buyer to cover the cost.”

Two years ago, I sold a DVD with the verbiage REGION 2 in the header and IF TO BE PLAYED IN THE USA, THE OWNER MUST HAVE A REGION FREE PLAYER. The buyer responded that he did not understand my wording. I appealed the return, but lost. If you proceed, it is my opinion you will lose.

No I don't accept international returns. T
No Returns does not mean No Refunds.
And even with a No Returns policy, you are still allowed to demand the return of the disputed item before refunding, although you are likely to have to pay for the return shipping.
