Hello everyone!
Our holiday Community chit chat post was so fun and generated a lot of great ideas, especially delicious holiday recipes. We wanted to continue the conversation but with new topics.
Here’s how it’ll work, twice a month, we’ll post a new chit chat topic and will keep the post open for a couple of weeks. Our moderators will make sure the post stays on topic and that the content is appropriate. Once two weeks have passed, we’ll close the post, and we’ll post a new topic.
The idea for the holiday chit chat came from a Community member so we wanted to ask you, the Community, what fun topics would you like to talk about this year? Keep in mind that the content doesn’t have to be strictly related to eBay.
Here are some ideas that come to mind:
1. Let’s talk about our pets
2. What’s your perfect weekend?
3. What’s the most useful thing you own?
So what would you like to chit chat about this year?

What is the most USEFUL item I own:
I would have to say the can opener. Great invention it is.
As for a single open chat on the boards such as this: it would be good: It is good.
Due to it is just one: were folks can get such out; and not have the whole community covered with such as in the olden days...
I do see some are not so inclined.

Pets sounds good to me...I really enjoyed the stories and pics from before.

"if you were an Elvis impersonator, what song would you sing? and why?"
In The Ghetto...because it breaks my heart. I'm not sure I could even sing it without getting all choked up.

"Gardening and home canning info"
Good one...I haven't been any further from home than Puerto Backyardo in 323 days.

"Steely Dan
Supertramp
Santana
I guess that kind of gives away my age. "
Gotcha beat...Dave Clark Five, Bobby Darin, Leslie Gore, Nat King Cole...Beach Boys. Anyone remember all the 'death' songs from then, Dead Man's Curve, Last Kiss, the one about the pearl...not to get too morbid. Oh and Leader of the Pack, loved that one.

"And of course I share the exact same name as his daughter so of course I adore Elvis!"
Way cool! Are any of you musical? The first night I met my now hubs (in a piano bar) he sang Can't Help Falling In Love...and sounded just like Elvis. Had some really nice black jeans on too, hee hee.

"Viva Las Vegas...why? Cuz I live in the same county, Clark."
Did you see that was a Jeopardy question? I never knew Vegas means 'meadow' in Spanish. I got it wrong.

----------------------JUST TAGGING----------------------------
Not to keep beating the horse after it's dead, but this thread is a good example of how these "social" threads go.
The OP asked for ideas for what topics might be interesting in FUTURE THREADS, but instead, there are posters who, instead of posting ideas, are posting their responses to other people's ideas.
It's not a response thread, it's an idea-gathering thread.
It doesn't take long for these kinds of threads to get out of hand, as @maxine*j mentioned in an earlier post.

Some of those responses are getting a bit judgmental, for example.
Also, why is there a pinned "chit chat" thread and a duplicate unpinned one, and a pinned "motivational quotes" thread and a duplicate unpinned one? Four threads where two would do.
And how long is a "quick survey" for video ideas? There have been no new responses for three days now, so maybe the pinned "quick survey," posted and pinned on January 4, is done and could go.
I can't keep from wondering if people with questions could be put off if the board looks too top heavy with such threads.

Maybe we could have a chat as to why chit chat is not necessary on this board.
Like every other thread that is off topic, it should be moved to another board. Your mods are swift to move 8-10 threads a day. Now you want to encourage off topic threads?

Hey pburn, I live in Oregon. I get all the rain on my parade right here at home.

With friendly chit-chat,
This is how it goes:
At the drop of a hat
Someone's up our nose.

I'd love topics to help sellers.... so like:
1) top 3 brands to look for in glassware.
2) Help with deciphering silver maker marks.
3) Ideas on ways to save on packaging material.
4) Most bang for your buck flips.
5) Wish list for future options on eBay program.
Etc.
