Free boxes

Does anyone know good places to get free boxes of different sizes? (not USPS boxes).

I have a regular round of businesses from whom I pick up boxes twice a week or so.  I use a lot of liquor boxes, as they are the correct sizes for many of my items, so I go to all the local liquor stores twice a week and pick up the empty wine/hard liquor cartons.  I also stop at the office supply stores, my optometrist's office, and my dentist's office.  The furniture store always has bubble wrap.  The specialty kitchen/bath store has lots of boxes and often packing peanuts, the home decor store is a goldmine.  My auto mechanic has great parts boxes, although I have to make sure they are clean enough to use.

I do the same. I have certain retail businesses that have the boxes I need. I am mostly looking for very large boxes that are already broken down and stacked neatly in the dumpster. I can fill up my topper covered pickup in about 30-40 minutes in about 3-4 stops.

Any shipments that will not fit in the eBay boxes I get with the quarterly coupon or ship cost effectively with USPS Priority boxes...  I custom make the box to fit perfectly.

I pick up the large cardboard from Pier 1 Imports and furniture store docks. These are "large" pieces of cardboard that I use to make custom sized boxes that fit my products.

Anyways, I don't buy anything but tape from walmart and one $25 shipment of bubble wrap per year.

Re: Free boxes

Liquor stores are the best places. They have boxes of various sizes and they are sturdy. The stores are always happy to give them away and some of them just leave them outside over the weekends for people to come get.

Re: Free boxes

I used to work part-time in a small hardware store. It was a good source of smaller boxes.

Re: Free boxes

My husband works in IT and the boxes that computer & tech items come in are incredibly sturdy. They also get a lot of that quilted type air pillows/squares or what ever you call them, and foam. I imagine a place like best buy would have the same.

Re: Free boxes

I get mine from family members. They order a lot from Amazon and they come in all sizes. Also try local businesses like Target or Walmart. They will usually let you pick out what you need.

Re: Free boxes

Wholesale plumbing, heating supply houses for all sizes of boxes and auto body shops for bubble wrap & peanuts.
