Forced Immediate Payment?

It seems like my buyers are now being forced to pay immediately for items.  I don't understand why as I'm not requiring it...  I really want to be able to invoice buyers (after they have committed to buy using Buy-It-Now) so that I can invoice them with reduced shipping costs for example.  But I can't do that now.  And I can't send an invoice to them BEFORE they've purchased.  So, I have to have them buy, pay more than we agreed to for shipping and then send them a refund?  So stupid.  Bookkeeping nuisance too.  Is there another way?

Forced Immediate Payment?

Nope.

Ebay recently rolled out immediate payment required on best offers.

Personally, I LOVE the new policy!

Make sure that the shipping cost are correct from the start.

Anyone know what happens if you have PayPal's two-factor authentication enabled?

I don't generate shipping costs... the eBay shipping calculator does.  And it utilizes varying markups for different services which I have no control over.

This is a new process being TESTED by eBay with a small group. It HAS NOT been rolled out to all members, as implied in an earlier post.

The thread linked below has comments by an eBay staffer about the test. It's recommended you @ tag that staff member and express your concerns so the feedback can be shared with the development team. There have been a lot of seller comments similar to yours, so I'd encourage you to add yours to the mix.

We asked for it........ Buyer auto pay

And here's another thread on the topic:

Auto-Pay if offer is accepted! NO EBAY! I wanted combined shipping!

Is this happening when buyers click on buy it now or only when an offer is being accepted?

If it is when buyers use buy it now, ebay does put immediate payment required on some listings even if the seller doesn't request it. They only way around that is if the buyer is purchasing more than one item they can put those items in the cart and request an invoice.  Unfortunately, that only works in some cases.

This is why I do Free Shipping and use the rate table, which adds X amount of $ when shipping to specific areas.

You set up your rate table(s) in advance and add them to desired listings. I have them set up for First Class and Priority, adding zone specific $ so that those who live closest don't overpay. Example, I add $1.50 to first class pkgs over 4 ounces if buyer lives in zone 8. Otherwise it's Free.

It's a test for the "offer" feature only--for now, anyway.

I’m totally for people having to pay immediately.  So tired of the non payers. I’m about to change my listings for immediate payment required.

my buyers complain about this and I don't have make an offer. Sad as the majority of my sales are combined and I am having to refund the extra postage when they pay for each item individually.

Yeah, this is why I absolutely do not want forced immediate payment to be a thing. I get a lot of multiple item sales, so I like to be able to send an invoice with the combined shipping cost when someone buys more than one thing from me.

Thanks, I'm aware of the test on the offer feature but the op didn't mention that they were referring to offers so I was trying to clarify if that's what they were referring to.

Yeah. Re-reading the original post, the OP must not be referring to the "offer" option. Apparently, s/he (or his/her buyers) just can't use the combined invoice feature? I was focusing on Message #2 instead of the OP's post. Bad decision. 😏
