Fixing below standard performance

How long does it take to fix falling below standard performance status? I am deprived of promoting my listings now. I am a very part time, but was just about expand, after quitting my job recently. I have zero views on all my new listings, and zero watches who I can send offers. Sales STOPPED.

Contacted eBay, was told to start improving my performance by INCREASING SALES. Also found out why they put me into this category - I canceled 7 sales in TWO years, due to out of stock. According to my record, I did cancel 5 times in two years , not 7.... Immediate shipping, resolving anything right away. Always professional with my buyers, 100% positive. I am in disbelief.

I am thinking of starting from scratch, with a new account, any suggestions?

Re: Fixing below standard performance

You need to look at what is on your dashboard right now. Click on Seller Level, then the arrow down for the Transaction Defect Rate, then click on Get Full Report.

This will tell you what defects are causing you the Below Standard rating. These defects fall off after 1 year, so you can see when you got them and when they will be removed.

Remember, the actual NUMBER of defects isn't really taken into consideration when you fall below standard, but instead it's the PERCENTAGE of sales. If you sold 2000 items and cancelled 5 you would be ok, but if you sold 100 and cancelled 5, you'd fall below. This is why they told you to make more sales.

At this point, you just have to wait it out and try to sell a bunch of cheap things just to get your transactions number higher.

I mean, you can try to open a new account, but then you'd have a limited number of listings you can list until you build up a reputation, you'd have payments held for 30 days, and you'd have no feedback. I don't think that would improve your selling situation much.

Defects fall off of your seller metrics after 12 months. I had fallen Below Standard for a while during parts of 2013 and 2014 because I had too many INR cases. My selling limits for the number of items and dollar amount were severely lowered. That is in the rear view mirror and ancient history. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and you can recover from that.

Did eBay send you a message saying that your visibility/views would be curtailed? If not, then the problem is your merchandise.
For example: Clothing > Women's Clothing > Tops has millions of listings.
Sell different items in other categories.

Multiple Accounts Policy

Are there circumstances when creating another account isn't allowed?
Registering new accounts to avoid buying and selling restrictions or limits, or other policy consequences, is not allowed on eBay.

It's a rolling 12-month count, that updates every 30 days. Just keep selling items without defects and you will eventually get back on track.

Cancelling sales is something ebay discourages as it's detrimental to the customer's shopping experience, and will count as a defect. Best to learn from mistakes rather than start over again learning nothing.

Re: Fixing below standard performance

If your expansion is in a different category then you could safely start a new store.

I have another account that basically sells sewing patterns while this one sells stamps, for example.

But for once eBay's advice is good.

List more stuff.

Newly Listed is a popular Search and listing gives you a small bump in the algorithm for Search.

If necessary, take down some of your oldest listed items, take a minute to review them for errors or updates, then relist them to get the same Newly Listed bump.

Opening a new account to get around any restrictions is not allowed.

Could get you shut down permanently.

Have a great day.

Re: Fixing below standard performance

It won’t take long to improve your seller rating if you sell a lot of inexpensive items.
Keep track of your inventory to avoid cancelling for out of stock too many of those can be the end of selling on eBay.

I do hope you didn’t quit your job thinking you would make money selling on eBay, there are no guarantees selling online.

You say your sales stopped? You had over 20 sales so far this month , not to mention you are selling in several highly saturated categories.

As for promoting, I find it to be a waste of $$ for the small or part time seller.

If you start from scratch by opening a new account you would be in violation of eBay policy by creating a new account to get around restrictions. See Multiple Account policy

Re: Fixing below standard performance

I see 70 sales over the past 90 days.

Doesn't look like sales have stopped.

Re: Fixing below standard performance

You are learning a valuable lesson which is make sure you continue to check on your inventory on Ebay and make sure it is in stock. Cancellations are tough to get past within the year even if it is 1.  As others have stated you need to check your transaction defect rate in your seller performance. To fix it whenever you list make sure your listing is removed whenever it is sold elsewhere. Don't have items you don't have. I understand this can be a mistake/you can forget to remove the listing. Very understandable but there are consequences for this type of mistake. Wait a year and it will go back to 0%.

Disbelief????? You admit you cancelled at least 5 sales. Ebay does not like it when sellers disappoint buyers. Professional sellers deliver the items they sell on the ebay site.

Re: Fixing below standard performance

You have had 28 sales this month. Your sell through rate is 92%. What exactly is the issue again?

If you quit your job to expand on eBay, I hope it works out for you.
