If you are offering a fixed price shipping cost (non-USPS flat rate) I want to give a heads up. Ebay earns a percentage of UPS, FEDEX, and USPS charges. The higher the shipping charge, the greater $ amount they receive. So I have noticed lately that my sales have been going to the furthest geographical location to me. This increases the shipping cost, and thus increases their intake. Algorithms can work in you favor or not.
For one, I will begin buying my labels offsite. Hopefully this helps to get me off the high cost buyer location cycle I've found myself in.

ANY site is going to make money off selling shipping labels.

You are not in any 'cycle'.
If you use a 'flat rate shipping' I would assume you use a number you got from the carrier website using the 'furthest' zip code. If you are not doing it that way, you are doing it wrong.
For those that think that buyer have ANY CLUE what shipping REALLY costs- they don't.
So, use the furthest zip code and then if buyer is close, you make a bit more. You can also add a 'handling fee' to the 'flat rate' so you are covering the 'ink for label, tape, box, bubble wrap, 13% Final Value Fee and if you are NOT doing that stuff... again;
You are doing it wrong.
