13% "final value fee" after paying an insertion fee? I dont recall that fleecing the last time I sold here. Ebay has totally lost its value to regular people wanting occasionally sell items on ebay. You ebay store subscribers, spare me your retorts pretending like ebay is a great place to sell now. I have been a member for over 20 years now and I think I am done. I will sell my music gear on reverb or marketplace. 5% is a fair deal. 13% after paying an insertion fee to list is absurd. 👎

There shouldn't be any insertion fees if you've listed less than 250 items this month or selected optional features (subtitles, bold title, etc.) Fees have been hovering around 13% for 10+ years. It used to be 10% eBay fees, 2.9% PayPal fees and 30 cent transaction fees. Now (unless you are a store subscriber) it is 13.25% + 30 cents. A marginal increase. The platform that charges 5% doesn't seem to result in any interest or sales from my experience, but good luck.

How much was your insertion fee?

When Pay Pal was processing payments, the total fee's were around 13%, so the fee's haven't changed much in awhile.
Unless you selected a listing upgrade or promoted the listing, there wouldn't be an insertion fee.

" 5% is a fair deal"
You seem to be stuck in a time warp, welcome to 2023.

@jelementalnot sure about that insertion fee?...but I do understand your concerns about the final value fee. 13% to 15% of the entire transaction is highly likely going to equate to 20% to 25% of the items price - Which is already extreme - BUT....the problem now is Promoted Listings. ebay suggests you give them another 15% of the entire transaction to promote your item, which, if you did, could very likely equate to 40% to 50% of the items price! Of course, this is optional as "ebay store subscribers" will tell you, but don't doubt for a minute they too are feeling the squeeze from this atrocity disguised as an ad program.
See the latest quarter results and how Promoted Listings revenue increased 39% - Its increasing on a logarithmic scale, and though it will always be optional (which is the companies pretext in my opinion), it will not ALWAYS be unnecessary - My guess is its being pushed hard to make sellers believe it is essential to sales in nefarious ways, either intentionally, or bare minimum, inadvertently...

As an eBay store subscriber, I feel that eBay is a great place to sell now.
